Welcome to the Hog. I recently upgrade from a T1i to an 80D. I'm sure that you will enjoy yours. Happy shooting

Hi,
No, I do not have a monitor calibrating device. I have thought about getting one since I have been taking more photos lately. Can you recommend one or two for me?

Thanks,
Ralph

Yes, it is both. It can be used as a stand alone product or a plug-in with Photos.

I upgraded about six months ago from a Canon T1i to the EOS 80D and couldn't be happier. It has all of the features I want; good video of the grandsons' soccer, baseball, and basketball games is just one of many features I like. I keep the 18-135mm lens on it about 95% of the time. Photographed in several national parks in Utah and Arizona in Sep/Oct of this year and got great results. I purchased only the body because I have the lenses that I need. I'm trying to decide to sell the T1i, keep it as a backup, or give it to my grandson in a year or two.

I use both Affinity and Luminar and trying to determine which is better for me, both for ease of use and quality of PP. I have a Canon EOS 80D and shoot mostly kid sports and landscapes. Is anyone else using both softwares and is so, how do you think they compare?

If you have forgotten everything you learned in your high school photo class, I would suggest purchasing Bryan Peterson's "UNDERSTANDING EXPOSURE" Fourth Edition. Less than $25 on Amazon. It will get you off to a fast start on your new adventure. Welcome to the Hog.

Welcome. I purchased a Canon EOS 80D a few months ago before going on a National Parks tour in Utah and Arizona. I previously had a Canon Rebel T1i. I highly recommend the Canon EOS 80D. Look at some of the reviews on You Tube, but don't get too anxious about all of the buttons and functions; I am still learning a lot about what the camera will do. I believe that I will enjoy it for a long time. I would also suggest getting the 18-135 mm lens with the camera. She will not be disappointed.

Hi. I switched from Dell PC/Microsoft 6 years ago and I will never go back. I have heard and seen that same sentiment many times on this forum and other forums. I cannot remember ever seeing someone say "I switched from PC/Microsoft to Mac, but I am going back to PC/Microsoft. Apple customer service is outstanding. As far as photo editing software, Affinity is comparable to Lightroom or PSE. As I have said, I have had both, and in my opinion the difference in price is well worth it. I would advise you to go with the Mac. As someone else suggested, go to the Apple store and get a demonstration; have all your questions ready. Good Luck. Ralph.

Peyton Manning hands down the greatest of all time. Nobody controlled a football game the way that he did.

We are currently in Utah visiting the National Parks. We thought that Canyonlands NP was fabulous for photography. Also great was Dead Horse State park. Arches was good. Drove into Zion NP yesterday evening and can't wait to get out there this morning.

I will be in Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico in Sep/Oct visiting many of the same parks you will be visiting. A great reference that I have purchased from Amazon for $22.94, paperback, is "Photographing the Southwest" Vol 1 - A guide to the natural landmarks of Southern Utah. Third Editionby Laurent Martes. This book is well worth the price.

Have a great time,
Ralph
