Lighthouse, thanks for the link :thumbup: It never ceases to amaze me all the knowledge that is here on the Hog!!! It's strange but in a cool way. Getting back to the original topic....when I was 8 I had a P&S crappy camera. Graduated to a Minolta. Now I have a few Nikons and like Sarge I have more glass than I can carry. Photography is a beautiful hobby/addiction that I never want to be cured of. I've never been addicted to anything, but I believe I'm hooked on this picture taking stuff. I'd like to think I'm wrong, but in my heart of hearts I know that I am not wrong about taking pix.Sure, I might suck at it, but it makes me smile when I capture an image for anyone and they smile. :thumbup: 8-)

Yes there is a cheaper hobby...try fly-fishing! As a matter of fact there happens to be a member on this site that Ties Flies for a side hobby. I've seen the work that he has done, but when you get a nice Brookie or on a bigger river a Brownie on-line you will wish for a camera to be in the other hand to collect the memory. Flytyer, where ya at???. There are memories in whatever endeavor we try to delve into. I believe that the best Camera you have is the one that you have in your hand at that moment of time. It doesnt matter if it's a Nikon, Canon, Sony, pocket-rocket. All that DOES matter is that you read the manual, get out and take pix, reread the manual, and get out there and take more pix. You have been informed upon very different formats, and the path that you take is yours. and yours alone. If you make what-ever you think might have been a wrong choice during your search figure it out and move onto a higher level. You can and will do it. The real key is observation. The part that sux for newbies is how to observe everything relevant to the image that they are trying to capture. Take the image that you love, and ask questions after you have studied the images you have taken, then ask yourself if you are happy/content with the image. Good-luck. 8-)
Fret, when you get rid of the phone-cam I hope you will be ready for the real world. This is quite a difficult journey you are embarking on, good luck to you.Any person can take a pic, The talent, if you care to delve into that area involves one hell of alot of hard work, and a boat-load of disappointment. It may sound harsh, but just because you get lucky with one image does not make you a photographer. You'll find that out sooner or later. It's better to realize that sooner than later. Don't give up, but if you're serious, study the art of photography. Good luck to you.8-)
