I hate to see card slots disappearing from devices. They're so convenient.

I don't remember if your Samsung Galaxy S10 has a microSD card slot? I know the newer one like my wife S22 and my S23 don't.

Your last 2 sentences say it all... NO ONE takes much notice of someone holding up a cellphone. Hold up your big mirrorless or DSLR and it's another story. With the masses craving instant selfie recognition and communication, I believe you are 100% right as stating that the phonecam size/format may be the perfect street camera.

You can pretend to do a selfie while actually taking pictures of people in front of you with a phone.

Just read op again. He does keep comparing 35mm on m4/3 to 50mm on FF. Thaz NOT equivalent, but it *IS* the op question. On that basis I do see what you mean.

Yes he found that the 35mm lens on M43 has the same DOF as the 50mm on FF at the same aperture. He asked what kind of mathematical relationship are they so I gave him the formula. That is focal length on FF multiplied by the square root of the crop factor and divided by the crop factor gives you the focal length that give the same DOF on a crop sensor. Not the same field of view but his question doesn't say anything about the field of view.
I don' say it's useful for anything or not. Just the direct answer to the question asked.

I have a couple of PLC that take the small card and my Surface Pro takes the small card.

As mentioned, the f/stop changed. Applying your formula to non equivalent FLs is just a red herring. Pure UHH.

The f/stop doesn't change. The 50mm f/5.6 focus at 5 feet on FF gives the same DOF for the M43 with 35mm, f/5.6 focus at 5 feet.
The Field of View are different.
But the the formula answer the OP question.

It doesn't.

No it doesn't but keep in mind that the 35mm on M43 gives narrower angle of view than a 50mm on FF. If you use the 25mm lens to get the same angle of view then you have to open up about 1 stop to get the same DOF. Again, my post is to answer the OP question whether or not it's useful I don't want to discuss.

It's pretty close but the crop factor and the CoC ratio are not exactly 2x and the M43 has a different aspect ratio.

Because of the difference in aspect ratio, the field of view has a 2x factor horizontally but 1.78 vertically.

Here is the list from the spreadsheet:

The aspect ratio isn't the same that is why the diagonal should be used rather than horizontal or vertical. The crop factor for M43 is very close to 2. The CoC should be proportional to the diagonal of the format.
The formula as I gave works and answers the OP question. That's all.

I seriously doubt if TEAC is actually MAKING any tape decks any more than Nikon actually MAKING any SLRs. What are they spozed to do with left overs, send them to the crusher ?

Well now I don't think TEAC is making them because I think they contract them out but I am sure they are being produced not new old stock. Although the design isn't much different from the old ones there are features (for better or worse) that indicative that they are of new design. (USB interface to computer as well as no Dolby are the telltale that it's a new design)

I don't know but I think this is in bad taste especially for those who do celebrate the holiday.

Ford, Toyota, etc never announced that theyre not making any more 2023 models anymore. Sony, Teac, etc never anounced that theyre not making any tape decks anymore. And yes its true that Nikon and Canon never announced that theyre not making any SLRs anymore.

TEAC is still making a cassette tape deck. The W-1200 for $499. Car manufacturers may make 2023 models in 2022 but I don't think they ever make 2023 models in 2024.

Replacement is usually more expensive than it's worth. I've blown out four of them and replaced the whole microwave each time.

yeah you should but I have to test and replace the magnetron in the microwave powered UV lamp used for ink curing. By measuring the current going into the magnetron you can pretty much tell how good the magnetron is.

Then the f/stop must change.

Nope same f/stop

for example if you calculate the DOF for the 50mm, f/5.6, focus at 5 feet. The DOF is the same for the M43 of 35mm, f/5.6, focus at 5 feet.
Since the crop factor of the M43 is 2 so the formula is 50x1.1414/2

If you use the same aperture, focus at same distance to have the same DOF the focal length of the crop camera is f and the focal length of the FF camera is F then
f= (F.√(crop factor))/(crop factor)

The usual things that go bad on microwave ovens are the Magnetron tube, the high voltage transformer, and the door switches. If you have a glass turntable, don't drop it! It costs over $100 to replace one.

We have a full size GE stand-alone microwave we bought 15 years ago that still works great. But we're on our third over-the-stove GE unit in this house. The first one was here for 20 years. The second one lasted five years. We just installed the third one a month ago. They don't make them like they did 25 years ago.

The magnetron is a consumable item. It's life is 3000 hours normally.
