I've been using Crashplan.com for a couple of years. To me there were some advantages over Carbonite, like including as many external drives as you want for unlimited backup on one account for $59.95 per year. It's already paid for itself with time savings for not having to re-do some work on a project.

For me that means no need for an off-site backup, external drives and Crashplan should be adequate.

Somehow I don't think these Texans learned their grammar in the UK. ("Learnt" if you prefer the British convention)

Texas is undeniably in the US, although some Texans consider it a nation unto itself.

The Union Grove sign committee might also benefit from reviewing the rules of comma usage whilst they contemplate their next project.

Let's just hope the janitor doesn't shoot his dick off.

Do you normally change lenses outdoors?

Unless the wind is whipping around carrying dust and sand it will be no more hazardous to change lenses in the canyon than anywhere else.

FWIW - this sounds like a better opportunity for admiring the night sky with your EYES than with a camera. You'd have better results if there was some moonlight.

Apparently they do not teach grammar at Union Grove.

The staff IS armed. Staff members ARE armed.

Do you ever discard any files? Back in the day when I used to go out and shoot 15-20 36 exp rolls of slides at a time the first thing I did after processing was spread them on a light table and throw out the junk. Images with bad exposure, focus, composition, etc went in the trash can. Second pass got rid of duplicates that were almost but not quite right.

It took me awhile after switching to digital to begin applying the same standards to files as I used on slides. An unusable image is really the same as no image at all, so why have it taking up space?

Ask yourself "under what circumstances would I choose this image over all the others?" If the answer is NONE - as it often is - out it goes. You'll find your storage problem greatly reduced.

It's surprising how much a photo of glass can be improved by getting some light THROUGH it. Try positioning another light or even one or more small mirrors to kick some of the light from your spot into the bottles from at least 90 degrees (or more) off the lens axis.

You may decide that the front light actually works better as a fill, with the main light coming through the glass.

I've been a professional photographer for nearly 40 years, from the days of covering events with a 4x5 Speed Graphic and flashbulbs (I worked for an old-timer as a youngster) to commercial work with a Nikon D-800E. This "Tossing out the baby" thread has motivated me to officially register and make my first post.

Bill Houghton, nice job if you are trying to show how to create a devil / raccoon baby in a horror film version. Your comment - "probably a little extreme but only posses (sic) another possibility" and your follow-up seem to indicate you ARE serious about playing around with "the lighting". I'm surprised that no one but Shutter Bugger has called him on it.

Captain C offered constructive advice that I would agree with regarding the direction of the light. I'd further suggest that if the OP is working with a RAW file she may be able to find a bit more detail in the highlights.

Where Bill is coming from is beyond me.
