I figure there's another bun in the oven.

In the file handling panel there is an option for "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates". If you check that LR will compare your new photos being imported with those already in the catalog and skip those that are suspected of being duplicates.

oops! Don and I were typing at the same time.

Weird isn't it. A motorcycle helmet stuck on an oak tree in the middle of the woods, go figure!

Was there any evidence of the rest of the body?

I second that. That's the one I bought. Very sharp, even wide open, and it won't break your back. Much less expensive too.

I agree wholeheartedly. The f4 is an excellent lens and with the improved ISO capabilities of the latest cameras the bigger hole in the end of the f 2.8 loses much of its attractiveness when measured against the weight and cost differential.

Ricardo,

Well, we've established one thing. At least one Aussie and one Okie don't speak Spanish.

Is "Soy Milk" simply plain milk that is introducing itself in Spanish?

If your intent is to have a place to store all of your camera gear, as it sounds, I would suggest that a back pack may not be the best solution. As your collection inevitably grows that bag will become unmanageable. I would suggest a rigid container such as a Pelican case. The Model 1600 (or better, the 1610 which has wheels) will hold a huge amount of equipment and can be had with various types of separators. If you look around they can sometimes be found at a fraction of their original cost. In the last two swap meets that I've been to I found a 1600 with new pickapart foam for $30 and a 1610 with new adjustable separator pads for $50.

If you are looking for something to carry your gear in for a specific shoot, then selecting a bag that fits that particular body and lens requirement is the way to go. As time goes by you will probably accumulate several of these in different configurations/sizes.

I'd hate to have to limit my selection of "favorite" but I certainly agree that the Border Collie is an outstanding breed. Arguably the most intelligent canine breed and a great friend to man. Watching a trained Border Collie work a herd is one of the joys of life.

I love the focus on his job that is evident in the dog's face in picture #2. Based on his old gray muzzle, that isn't his first herd.

George,

I'm not sure from your question whether or not that you understand that you are not actually moving the image files from your hard drive to Lightroom. Lightroom is simply a catalog system and the images are still on your hard drive in the location that they were previous to your action. Think of Lightroom as the old fashioned Card File in a library. It tells where the books are and some information about them but the books are still in the stacks where they were placed by the librarian (you).

That branch, to me, is not natural. It did not grow there without an assist to break it. Weather or otherwise.

I'm with the OP on this one. The branch certainly is natural. Limbs grow, they die, they break. Whether they fall due to gravity, the wind, an animal, the water current, etc., their positioning is what it is even though it might offend our aesthetic sensibilities. If you want a perfectly natural scene capture, you should be just as bothered by the slowing of the water in the stream...That's not natural. The artist adds or subtracts special effects, whether they be slowing the water or inserting a beer can in the stream to achieve his purposes.

Had I been taking the photo and had noticed the branch (I well might not have noticed it!) I would probably have removed it if possible in the same way that I would remove a blade of grass that was obstructing a macro of a flower that I wanted to shoot.

When I magnify the photo I note that there are I-Beams (a bridge) across the stream and at least two other limbs hanging down in the upper portion of the picture. But that is being overly critical of what is an exceptionally nicely done picture.

Lovely image. If you could possibly clone out the straight branch on the left side near the middle might be a good thing. That would mean cloning out it's reflection also, - wouldn't it?

Jim,

That's not just a branch. It's a fishin' pole with a line. Opie and Andy are just off to the left.

Well done image, Bob.

SShooter,

I think that the Luna Moth is one of the largest moths in North America but the Atlas lives in the Malay archipelago.

A trip to the Butterfly House at Dallas' Fair Park revealed this big boy, an Atlas Moth. It is the largest moth in the world and is native to the forests of Southeast Asia. An adult female Atlas Moth may have a wingspan of 12 inches and a surface area of 64 square inches. They have no mouth parts and live on the energy stored as a caterpillar. Their sole purpose in life is to procreate (and you thought that teenage boys were singularly driven!) Their life span as a moth is 5-7 days.

They are very well camouflaged for their setting. If you look at the white areas in the wings you will see that they are completely translucent and reflect the foliage behind them. Their biggest predators are birds and lizards. If you look closely at the wing tips you will see that they have evolved to look exactly like a snake species that lives in the trees with them. The snake does not feed on the moths but does feed on the lizards and birds so the moth wing is a deterrent to its enemies.

Thank you for your input. I will take your advice and pay no mind to those that you have described above. Here is what CTHAHN posted; A good photographer would use a check list so h e does not have to tell the world how stupid he is.
Here is what I posted to one of those poor souls. ( which had no reply BTW)
Hi.. Just a kind word of encouragement for you to learn something about yourself. Calling someone a demeaning name is indicative of low self esteem, or an unconcious feeling of being less than you want to be. If someone walks into a glass door would you call this person "STUPID or an IDIOT"? How would you feel if you found out later that that person was blind?
We all screw up from time to time, no matter how experienced or how many times we have done something successfully!
I may be wasting my time by trying to aid you in being aware of your behaviors, but Ive been around for 80 yrs now and know that I am not perfect. (at 80 there is a propensity to forget things, but forgetting is not limited to just old guys like me).
Try not to compare your self to others but to focus on how to make "YOU" a better loving "YOU! Attitude is a learned experience (starting as young as 3yrs ). Is there someone you act like in your life, like your mom or dad, grand parent?
Attitude or personality is a learned process. We learn early in our lives certain behaviors! I hope I have helped you! At 80 I'm still working on my defects of character!
Thanks for listening, Lee
Thank you for your input. I will take your advice... (show quote)

Good points, all. There is another casualty in the issue of internet rudeness. Every profession or hobby depends upon getting new blood to sustain itself. It matters not whether the person who asks a question is a teenager or an octogenarian (as you and I are, Lee). But an ungracious response can forever sour someone's interest in their new field. That person may be permanently lost as an advocate.

What is unfathomable to me is why the moderators tolerate such incivility. I am a member of another forum that is much larger than this (www.smith-wessonforum.com with approx. 200K members) and if ANYONE posted comments like some of the ones on this Forum they would be immediately reprimanded; if they persisted in the action they would be banned forever more. The Forum rules are clearly delineated and they are enforced.
