Also check to see if you have a local do it yourself frame shop in Johnson City offering that service, one where they do the harder technical stuff and you do the rest. It's an excellent way to have a hand in the process.

Law enforcement can tape us going about our daily business, look at all the street cameras which seem to be the rage right now. I don't believe videotaping law enforcement is any more against the law than being an eye witness is.

The difference is this: The police can refute an eye witness, it's much harder to refute video or photographic evidence. The mistake the person who recorded the entire incident made was saying "I got it all", to the police. That was just asking for trouble, but I agree, the police did not have the right to destroy the evidence. I'm sure there was enough other video (which will come out) taken to show what really happened when analyzed.

There are those who do serious PP, those who don't, and those who are somewhere in the middle.

Like politics and religion, the only consensus to be reached is that each of us will deal with the subject in our own way, and no one way is inherently superior.

I don't like the term purist, because true purism is a form of snobbery. Most of us are not true purists, just dedicated to the perfection of one idea or another.

Sounds dumb and probably very simple but Need some help here .

Thanks,

The only dumb thing about it is wanting to send your photos to Stock Agencies. Instead, contact magazine and book photo editors directly asking for copies of their "want lists." Then send photos that seem to meet their needs.
I did that for more than fifty years and made a very nice living doing it that way.
Stock Agencies will simply swallow your photos up among thousands of others of similar subject matter and, if you're lucky, they will arrange one, maybe two, sales a year for you.
If you really want to get your photos out there, in print, and make money doing it, cut out the middle man and do it yourself.

You're right. Come to think of it, I have a magazine article with photos waiting to be published, (next spring). Publishers will post their submission standards online, which usually require an e-mail inquiry before sending. They hate blind submissions.

BBNC, My D70S uses a CF card too, but I don't have a similar camera or card to compare speeds. I assume the D70S transfers slower due to it's older design and program, but don't know for sure. Will a faster CF card in it make a difference in data transfer rate, or is the camera program the limiting factor??
The camera is the limiting factor when WRITING to the card, if the camera does not support the faster cards. The card will be the limiting factor when copying to the computer, regardless of the method used (Cable or reader).

That's true, but I have found that even a standard (I believe class 4) Sandisk card copies to the computer pretty fast. Put your camera's name in your browser and select dp.review.com. It is a technical review (no bias) website which will tell you everything about your camera except how to be a photographer. Look under "timing and speed" for the real world transfer speeds with different cards.

Freddie,

Good point.

My cameras take two different cards (CF and SD) anyway, and I hesitate to use an SD adapter in the CF because of the extra set of connections that tiny signal has to go through. However, local reports indicate the adapters work pretty well.

Take a look at istock.com.

Reading their submission requirements is a sobering experience, to say the least. I would say if your work is accepted by them, it's very good work, indeed.

They also have training tips on how to do it.

Applies to all digital cameras. Check the specs for the transfer rate of your camera's software, then buy cards rated a little faster. No matter what class the card is, it will only transfer as fast as the camera software is capable of and you might be able to save a few bucks.

Camcorders work the same way, but you really need all the card you can afford because of the huge amounts of data involved. Typically the large, 32Mb and above, cards are also the fastest, but unnecessary in a regular camera.

I don't know about model specifics, but Epson photo printers seem to be the printer of choice for doing above average prints.

And plastic can be affected adversely by temperature extremes. Hot car anyone? It is my opinion that plastic lens elements are in lenses that are less mechanically sound, as well.

Have you checked into a local store? I'm not talking about Wolf, or Ritz types, but a locally owned and operated business. They can be higher, but sometimes you can strike a deal by buying several items at once.
