In all three photos -- to my eye -- the trucks look like they are parked about half the truck bed distance from the wall. That it, it looks like you would have to saw off about half the truck bed to be able to park them that close to the walls. ???

For me the ghost bridge in the background demands far more attention than the subject bridge.

What's THAT all about?

There was a great link that this website had recently about an external monitor connection for a DSLR camera, The one I refer to specifically mounted on top of the camera body in the hot shoe and was about the size of a Kindle or slightly larger. Maybe someone here can resend you that link. It looked pretty neet and it displayed everything your LCD camera display was showing including all the overlays and data and according to the reviewer, it had excellent resolution.

That does sound great. I will try to google it.

Go to the top of this screen and SEARCH for "external lcd monitor" for starters.
Good luck! I live with glaucoma at age 83 and still manage an exciting life in the photographic world.

Speaking of which . . . .
Niconians72 has enriched my life by his inspiring photo galleries that have prompted me to keep reaching . . . keep reaching!

The wonderful communal spirit displayed on this forum has softened some sharp edges of my life.

Thanks to all and a joy-filled life you and yours!

I'd crop it more like this, the grass and weeds don't offer an awful lot. It's a small picture so hard to do a lot with it.

Well, you captured it for me. I see my wife sitting in one of those chairs, completely absorbed in who knows what?

#1: Evocative! I've never been there but I remember it well.
#2 : Beautimous! Put it in a heavy book to press and preserve it.

A 2-3 pixel blur along the selection edge might help avoid the paste-on effect.

They do not allow flash at any of the local performances.

Using a D700 set for Auto ISO (max 1600, minimum shutter 1/60) with a 70-200mm f2.8 I get acceptable results from as far back as the fourth row.
More than that, it's just too many bobbing heads.

For our own amateur productions, I get to sit in the front row. (Nice to be president? :D

Well, I see we are finally coming to the OP's issue. His complaint is not with the rule of thirds, but with the insistence that it be applied or imposed indiscriminately
So who can object with that? Who does object to that? No one.

Rules are generally arrived at through experience or as an attempt to correct some abuse. They are valid considerations for that reason and not to be ignored.

However, no reasoned person suggests that they be enforced simply because they exist or that they take priority over other esthetics or recourse.

However, you really ought to know and understand the rule in question before ignoring it.
