Day two started very foggy. I liked being able shoot directly at the sun. This is shortly after sunrise on what turned out to be a beautiful day.

Thanks, Karla. I've copied these pics onto my computer to back up my case with the County Commissioners. We'll see what happens.

Good luck!! Keep us posted, I'm sure you'll be successful. It's essentially a piece of PVC pipe nailed to a boardwalk. How could they refuse? :-)

Adorable! Love the red sweater against the light fur with the snow in the background. Hope to see more shots of Mia, she's a cutie! Welcome aboard!

This is why people who enjoy water sports and nature need to be aware of what they're doing.........

Here you go! The first one is at the Eau Gallie Causeway boat ramp, it's full. The next 5 are in a mile long area of A1A at the beach accesses. All except the one hidden in the bushes had line. The PSA for the biodegradable trash on the beach is great, people stop and read it all the time. The riptide PSA is in memory of a senior , James McGriff I believe, from Palm Bay HS who drown near here in a rip current on senior "skip day" There are several pics, hope they help you get some bins in your area

Full of Line

My way of measuring things

almost full

Double header~ keeping things clean, saving the environment one beach access at a time

Full, looks like dirt but it's a glob of line washed up in the wrack

The line is embedded in the seaweed showing people will pick up line washed up if they have a place to dispose of it

Only one with foreign trash, a paper towel is tossed in there

Mostly full of line, nice tied up bundles from the surf fishers

The only empty one, mostly because it hidden in the bushes and it's a walk up access vs car access

PSA for biodegradable "trash" often found or left at the beach

PSA for rip tide safety, these are at all Brevard county beach accesses

I've been in Fla for about 50 years, Karla, and have never, that I can remember, seen a used fishing line container. Would you do me a favor and, if possible, take a look inside some of these things and let me know if they are actually used? If I knew they really worked, I would push Hernando County to put them at our two fishing piers. Matter of fact, I think I'm going to do that anyway........

Absolutely!! I'll walk over tomorrow and take pics for you. They work, I've seen them filled with line. We also have a great mini billboard showing how long it takes to break down "trash" ... styrofoam cups, paper, etc... Will post pics tomorrow after work :-)

It's a beautiful bird but an ugly picture, Karla. And it is much more commonplace than one might think.

I live in central FL and we have disposal containers at all beach accesses for used fishing line, not that it solves the problem by any means but it's a start. It would be great to see them at all of the river front parks too.

Makes me very sad to see him like that, I hope by some miracle he is able to survive

What a beautiful bird, how sad to see the line around his leg.

Nice shots. Last couple of days have not been surfing weather up here but I am hoping that the sun will be back after this weekend.

It magically cleared up late in the day on Monday, otherwise we've had clouds and/or rain everyday. Luckily, weather never stops the surfers.

Thanks for looking and Happy New Year bcheary!

:) :-)

Spent a chilly afternoon at the beach with my SX50, the cool air didn't slow the surfers down one bit
