Here is some of my work, these 3 are of a roller coaster rail...

Interesting angles.

Great shot, nice and clear. Hard to get. Try cropping a bit off the right side as it is empty space that does not add anything to the story, in my humble opinion.

Bonnie, this is so cute, what a little doll. Try getting in much closer as there is too much distracting background around him. Good luck.

Try moving him over. He probably won't care. Adorable.

I love the dove, but the background needs muting or something. My eye went to the background, wondering what it is. Then I saw the dove. You asked for it.

I have been trying to reply, but could not get through. Maybe it will work this way. These photos are great.

This blizzard and then fog occurred on the 7th of February, 2009 and was the 2nd coldest day in Denver's weather recording history. Some of us won't enjoy seeing this with winter coming on but what I'm looking for is the concensus of opinion as to whether they have any decorating merit, like perhaps in a home where there is an "all-white" freak. What do you think - honestly. Let me have it. These are not black and white. All were shot with a Canon EOS 5D MkII and an EOS 70-200, f2.8. All 3 were shot at f5.6 @ 1/80th and 100iso, handheld

Maybe you could combine one, two an maybe even three. Those are the ones that appeal the most to me.

Why don't you have a go at it Strubbles. Let me see what you have pictured in your mind. I've not made it to the point yet of combining elements of different shots except in the case of inserting someone into a family portrait who wasn't around at the time of the portrait sitting. I've mostly done that with old photos involved with some genealogy stuff I've done on my family. I'll be anxious to see what you have in mind. Thanks.

Well, I will give it a try... might not be right away, but I will get to it. If I don't, please remind me. I can be forgetful...

I thought it a good idea in the infancy of this forum to bring up a subject that is present on most photographic forums, highjacking. highjacking is the posting of your photos on someone's thread who didn't ask for them. Sometimes the highjacker doesn't even comment on the original on the original poster.

Forum etiquette states that if you have good photos start your own thread unless the person that started the thread invites the members to add theirs.

The main damage from highjacking is the possible discouragement for new or shy folks to start their own threads. They are taking a chance that they will receive harsh criticism, comment or critique just to start a thread and post, maybe for the first time. I've seen forum die from members being intimidated by rude, uncalled for remarks.

I've sent PMs to a couple of members attempting to keep this a private concern but the practice of highjacking on this new forum is rampant so I thought better to take it public.

We all love photography. Most here want to learn their art and I've noticed a lot of healthy positive discussion. Let's keep this forum alive without egos getting in the way.

jKaye65, This is one of those things that you have to be tastefull in and can be looked at as not constructive criticism. I think you could fall in the Highjacking category even with your own post. For example if you wanted your photo critiqued and perhaps you posted most of these for a comparison, well you're not giving the forum anything to post to compare it with if it was a question with your requested critique, therefore I consider that as Highjacking the whole forum. Because you may be posting too many photos and literaly hurting yourself, this is why on the picture attachment in the reply area there is only 3 slots I'm assuming. So in that case be fare and if applicable, allow someone to critique just a few photos. So in my opinion you could have people avoiding your post possibly because your what seems to appear to bragging in your own Post. So with that and I know it took me a while to get there, but I think you might run in that category. But really you said it yourself just did want to type it in. Well I'm not sure how you can make a Post and explain it with more Photo's. In would try to explain yourself in detail and try to concentrate on getting your message out with one good question on the Photo. Like in my situation that I question, as it was explained it was perfectly okay. But it wouldn't be in my opinion if I had post 5 or 6 Pictures to show how good this lens is. I had to use comin since per say and realize what I'm saying is just constructive criticism. I think if I had saw 5 other people post a photo in regards to how well this Lens preformed, well that is to much and really if you think about it, it would be redundant for me to even further post yet another photo. So in your case it might look and be redundant to me to view all your photo's for one question or one you want me to figure out. You may find aventually that your Post aren't being replyed on maybe because of this, and I know I'd like to be as quick as possible with my question concerning my Post. I've said allot and my opinion is not always correct. Good Luck
jKaye65, This is one of those things that you have... (show quote)

Here is my honest opinion, take it for what you will.

When I open a new picture thread and see the photo, 90% of the time it has some glaring (and some not so glaring) flaw. And I do not have a problem with that. This is all about learning the art of photography......and I learn something new everyday.

My issue is when I start reading some of the comments about the "flawed" image. "Perfect", "wouldn't change a thing", "this should be framed and in a museum", etc etc.

Those comments are all misleading and nobody has learned a thing. So on a handful of occasions I have commented on how I feel the photo could be improved. I add a photo of my own to further illustrate the point, not only for the original starter of the thread, but also for all those who made the comments.

If that is "hijacking" then I am guilty as charged. I would rather "show" you what I mean then write a book trying to explaing what makes a decent photo.

A picture is worth 1000 words and if you'd rather have the 1000 words then this forum may not be for me.
quote=Dyluck4 jKaye65, This is one of those thing... (show quote)

As I stated earlier, I guess I have been guilty of hijacking because I did not know that was what I was doing.

I must take exception to the idea that all comments must be sweet and positive. Positive is good, but as jkaye65 said, one does not learn anything if no one will give constructive critique or show a different way of seeing something. I hope that we all stop hijacking... that if we see someone doing that, a gentle suggestion that it is not proper would be in order, and that we all try to be positive while offering some suggestions. When I say great, or wonderful or something really positive, it is because I cannot find anything that I can add to the job that is already well done. I do not comment on everything. Sometimes I do not see the positive and do not want to hurt someone's feelings. Or, perhaps the subject of the photos just do not interest me. But I IIlearn something every single day on this forum, and I love it. I hope that, at times, I add something of interest in the way of my comments.

I hope I have not just hijacked this stream.

I took this picture from our tour bus when we were in southern France. The edited version was cropped to eliminate the glare from the window and focus more on the grey horse. I did bump up the vibrancy a little.

Always looking for something interesting going on outside these were a couple of ones I found this year. The pink sunset got me up out of my chair fast and it did not last long but the next night it was orange. The other is a Mexico sky in the morning.

I really love #1 - I am not an expert in white balance, but is it a bit off? I am not sure it should be so blue. Anyone?

I've been shooting weddings for a few years but I was asked to shoot some pregnancy photos which I have never done before so I agreed to do it for free since it will be good practice for me. The photo shoot went great!! I had not only the pregnant lady but her 3 kids and husband. It was a great experience and she loves the photos. Below are a few. How'd I do?

Great... I wish I had pix of my kids at this stage.... ribbon? Would be cute in one....

Composition could be adjusted a bit. The cubs should be in the upper right portion of the shot looking down into the pic, instead of centered and looking down and out of the pic.

You eye is drawn in the direction they are looking......which in this case if off the pic.

Lacked the water to move them up and to the right, but by cutting off a tail I can come close to your suggestion. Still need to learn a lot about composition, so thank you for the assistance.
