Canon IS 30.
Hey Maria,
Your camera shoots only in jpeg format. Canon designates its raw files as "crw" and Nikon "nef" files (I shoot Nikon so I'm not much help on brand issues). Both are data files captured by your camera's sensor. Because they are larger files there is more data to manipulate, so in theory you get better images. But it is the person using the camera which is the most critical factor in getting a good image. you can get the manual online and checking to see if there have been any firmware updates couldn't hurt.
I see that I am not alone in recognizing your talent. Hopefully, if you are not yet shooting in manual mode, you are headed that way. When you are ready to upgrade, whether DSLR, Mirorless, or some other system, your UUH colleagues can help with your questions.
In the meantime, I would recommend Bryan peterson's 3 books on Composition, Exposure, and Flash. You could probably get those at your local public library.
Also flicker now gives each user One terabyte of free disk space!!! This will provide you with palace to store your backup "Keeper" shots.
Anyway, I wish you the best with your job and photography. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to give me a holler here or at paulvolcy@yahoo.com

Well done would be understatement.

I added the black and white, which do you think captures the moment better?
Canon SX 50
I like them both, nicely done.
