This is the most outrageous thread I have read so far. I don't understand half of it! Keep going everyone.

I love the picture!! I had to laugh at the commercial which appeared directly below it.. "Do you need a wedding photographer...."!!

I have a D600 and with AI and AI-S lenses fitted, the exposure meter works and it works fine in A (aperture priority|) and M modes. On my D70 they work in M but the meter doesn't even work. Is there a cheaper (obsolete/second hand DX is fine)and hopefully light weight digital Nikon which will meter with these old lenses? I would quite like to have an easy carry round (and maybe knock around) which is not so precious!

Forgot the main point! Yes agree with the security stuff, keep cameras out of sight.

Funnily enough, my motorbike is insured comprehensively against everything, except - theft from my own drive! When the bike is at home, the insurance co. want it to be in the garage, so they exclude theft from my own drive! Sounds nuts but makes sense from their point of view.

Thanks for that. One recommendation is worth a thousand adverts.

I avoid the flashy named straps too. Except a little while ago when I went to a wedding and knew they would all be out, showing off the latest wizzo stuff. So I took my first film SLR, a great piece of metal and glass, on a wide strap with PRAKTICA right along it. Huge fun, wound them all up. Didn't get many photos though!

Leave the manufacturers strap in the box so when you sell the camera on the buyer sees a lovely clean strap and thinks camera has hardly been used. Similarly use a Delkin Snug It over camera - keeps it dry and clean. I also tattify my Lens Hood by wrapping sticky tape untidily around it. So the "ne'er do wells" think I am using a tatty old camera whose make they cannot fathom out!

I like 'tattify'! I seem to be good at doing that to most pieces of equipment.

[quote=saichiez]Capt C and those who mentioned Pano Stitch have my vote.

Simple 4 frame stitch with a 6 Mp camera and 15 minutes using the Panorama Tool (free) in Windows Live Photo gallery.

What is this, how do I find it in Windows? Is this a silly question?

Nasty. How do you spot the stuff inside the lens? Put a white or black card behind? Shine a light through the front or the back? All I can see is reflections from the glass surfaces!

Oh shoot! That's awful! Thanks for the link. It really is about real biological fungus. Luckily there is none of that stuff in these lenses. OK, thank you let's move on .........

What exactly is fungus in a lens? I assume that is is not mini toadstools growing out from the edges, like something from Voyage to the Centre of the Earth. I would like to sell a couple of lenses and wish to describe them accurately. I look into them and see layers of multicoloured (presumably multicoating) reflections, and little images of the things on my desk behind them. I have tried white and black paper behind, but I cannot see anything inside! What am I looking for?

Is it compatible? It is the best lens you could buy to complement your D90. I don't think anyone would argue that this is one of the greatest macro lenses ever made, and will do a whole lot more. Lovely shots above.
Do buy one, and then please enjoy using it.
