Thanks for the comments. If you like flowers, these were taken on top of Table mountain

The king protea SA national flower, never seen it on top of the table, photographed it on Smuts track and nursery ravine.

Love the cape peninsular

All taken whilst on a recent trip to South Africa, just great to be back in the bush where you at least know what wants to eat you!

Hi txxr
Not grass but a South African plant, commonly known in this country as Montbretia or to give it botanical name Grocosmiiliflora

The warmest day this year in England and the signs of Spring are appearing, my first place of call is usually the hedgerows, despite the high winds I managed to get these couple of shots.. :)

For such a wild day, it was no pleasure being out up here, that’s a good photo of a hedgerow alien

Hi JH2o, your info was very interesting I took this last year and have never seen one of these since I've seen similar but with less colour

Hi Dave
The only other that looks similar is the Ruddy darter which has a clubbed abdomen, yours, looking at the photo, has a cylindrical abdomen which is correct for this species but the wings should have a bluish sheen

Messing about with names and borders

Hi Dave
Good capture
Don’t know if you know it but this very much looks like the Red-veined darter Sympetrum fonscolombii a rare vagrant in this country and mainly where you come from the south west, I've only seen this species twice this far north. I think it now breeds down your part of the country.
