I saw a doctor today for an update now that all the test results are through. It is lung cancer. It is terminal. As to how long, there's no way of knowing. Chemo was put forward as an option, I said I didn't want to go down that road, the Doctor said: "I think that's a wise decision in this case". I have a CT scan tomorrow, with plans of future radiotherapy to follow. Meanwhile, I get all the paink**lers I want because, at this point, addiction is not going to be a concern.

That's not how it's gonna work. Instead, your eyes will be opened, but it will be too late.

What exactly will my eyes be opened to?
Will I suddenly see that wiping out the entire living population of Earth except for one family, a few of each animal and all the fish, was a good move?
Will I suddenly see that babies with malaria are all a part of some great plan?
Will I suddenly see that destroying the next village and taking all the underage girls as sex s***es is the morally correct thing to do?
Just what exactly will I be too late for?

OK, this thread was the result of the recent fast prime discussion for a Nikon D850. It seems some folks think the idea of mounting a $70 dollar prime lens on a $3000 body is like casting pearls before swine. I'm more of the "what the heck, let's give it go" school of lens selection. Here is that thread.

http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-521601-1.html

The lens has been ordered, due here on Tuesday, April 3rd.

This Yongnuo lens is so inexpensive that it can't possible be fantastic, but just how usable is it? Let's find out. I just ordered this lens. Since I have DX Nikon bodies, for me it will be portrait length. I am going to try this lens out for a few days and then send it on to one of you to do the same. I'm thinking I'll post just two photos here, one from among my best shots with the lens, and one that I think highlights a limitation that I find. I expect anyone that participates in the tour to do the same.

To participate, you have to be in the lower 48 states of the US. You have to have a Nikon of course and be an active member here. You must agree to keep the lens for two weeks or less, pack the lens as if it were your own, and send it to the next person.

If you're interested in participating please respond here and include your zip code so we can define a first circuit that keeps the shipping costs down for each user. For example, if we have several people in California that are interested it would make more sense to string them together. So don't expect to be included in the order you sign up. As the lens owner, I will try to shepherd it along in an efficient manner. Addresses can be exchanged only as needed via PM from the current lens holder to the new recipient.

OK, let's have fun.
OK, this thread was the result of the recent fast ... (show quote)

I was toying with the idea of a reasonably fast 50mm prime but wasn't sure how much use I'd get out of it. When I saw the Yongnuo, I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to see if get enough use out of it before investing in a "proper" one. I was very impressed with the image and build quality. I won't be upgrading because it's fine for the amount of use I'll get out of it. Obviously being in the UK and using Canons, I won't be taking part in your challenge, but I'd be interested to see if I was just lucky.

Karma, Wellheim. The Day is coming that you WILL see God. You still have time to prepare.

If that day comes, just as long as I get the chance to talk to him/her/it, and tell him/her/it where he/she/it went wrong, it's all fine by me.

Just to play the devils advocate here: When I shot full manual and push-processed the film, how is that different from manual + auto iso?

The main difference is that when you push process, you're committed to the entire roll of film. It took me a while, when I first changed to digital, to realise that I could change ISO for each frame.

I can't help making puns, it runs in the family. As Baldrick would say "I have a punning clan".

I hope you get Black Adder over there or you won't get that one.

I always found that what you get back from a dog is worth so much more than what you have to invest. My last one, the one in my avatar, lived for a few weeks short of twenty years and looked and behaved like a puppy right up to the end. You could never get and probably wouldn't want that sort of loyalty from another person.

I don't agree with you that Lady Diana was a naive gold digger. A definition of a gold digger to me, is one who wants riches without earning those benefits, and does so with false intentions. She was a great mother, and was indeed the most popular of all the Royal Family. Camilla is the one who stole all of Diana's possible chance of happiness. I read an article, that Camilla has finally accomplished acceptance from the British. Good for her. She's no Diana. That's for sure.

When I say she was a gold digger, I meant that she had certain ideas about what marrying into the royal family would involve. She thought that it would be a life of luxury and happy ever after. I personally believe that she had been groomed for that position by her family since childhood. Unfortunately for her, the royal family only wanted her to provide "an heir and a spare". Once she'd done that, she was expected to let Charley Boy carry on with Camilla and not mention it. She was popular when they were first married because she was young, good looking and not quite as closely related as most "outsiders" marrying into royalty. Most of her charity work didn't really start until after the break down of the marriage. It was as if she desperately wanted people to take her side. She had several affairs once the marriage was "on the rocks" and Harry was almost certainly the result of one of them. But, she was little more than a kid herself at the time and was vulnerable. So, she was certainly naive. She was expecting a fairy tale lifestyle, and although she was prepared to do the work expected of her, she wasn't prepared for the downside of marrying into the royal family. Camilla has not been and will never be fully accepted by the British public. Most of us don't really care what they do in their personal lives, but, those who do, do not like Camilla.

You are right. Prince Charles fell out of love with Diana, which led to her unhappiness. Diana's new rich boyfriend ended up getting her killed, along with himself. What a tragic ending that was. She was only in her 30's too. I doubt Harry will fall out of love with Meghan. Unlike his father.

Diana was a naive gold digger. As far as Charles and the rest of the royal family were concerned, she was nothing more than an incubator for the next in line.

Too many people over here moan at the cost of 'The Royal Family'. I think they've paid back everything we've spent on them and probably more with this event.

I think it's the distant relatives that people moan about. Sure the Queen, her kids, her grandkids and great grandkids do give back. But, third and fourth cousins????
