Hmmm . . . . It's already off-center.

Thanks, John. I thought so as well. You can read my reply to him below. It explains why that photo won the draw for me.

Five star photo!!! You did great, but I’d like to make one suggestion. My own preference for pics like this (different people have different likes, so you might not agree with me, but that’s fine. Just stating my own opinion.) is to place the subject off-centre. I think it’d look a little better that way. (If you want me to, I can go into detail, but I’ll only do it at your request, cuz if you’re not interested you’d probably think it boring.) But don’t get me wrong, the photo’s still great, even as is
Five star photo!!! You did great, but I’d like to ... (show quote)

I do understand why the main subject in landscape (and in some other) photos are generally not placed in the center of the photo. I believe the house (the main subject) is off-center in my photo --it is to the right more, and the horizon is certainly below the center. Probably not by much, and perhaps a bit more may result in a more pleasing photo to some eyes. I took a number of photos of this house from various angles/perspectives. The reason I liked this one, and chose it for my post was because the snowy white path that leads to the white door was the most pleasing for me. The leading line, so to speak, was the draw for me. But I do appreciate your suggestion, and I thank you for it.

Absolutely beautiful image Francis. It would look great in B&W as well, I think.

Thank you very much, Mark. Another UHH member also suggested the b&w conversion. I will play with that tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Now if that house could only talk!

Yeah, I also wonder about the stories it would tell.

This is really nice--enjoyed! I'll bet that it would look great in b&w, too.

Thank you very much, John. I never thought about a b&w conversion, but now that you have stirred my curiosity, I will try it out

I'm asking only because I hope it was all caught on camera but now days you wonder if AI placed that gorgeous sky in the background.

Thanks, cyclespeed. No AI. No sky change. No add-ons. Nothing. Just RAW to JPEG conversion after some basic tweeks to the sliders during post processing.
