canon 5d mark 3, why do all the pros shoot with canon,

Funnily enough at the last 3 weddings I attended all of the "pro's" we're using Nikons, two of which had 2 d700 bodies with different lenses attached.

Personally I use Sony (I do not in any way consider myself a pro) because I was given an A300 with several lenses and loved it.

I also know both Amateurs and Professional photographers that use Canon.

We are all different, and as such have different tastes and ideas, and opinions are like butt holes - every one has one, however fan boy opinions like the one expressed in your comment aggravate me somewhat.

Just like the iPhone / android argument both (or in this case all) of the products get the job done to a high standard and if you are happy with what you have you have made the right choice for you.

The OP by wording the question the way he did was ( and I'm being slightly presumptuous here) asking for an unbiased opinion from those replying, not a 12 word fan boy statement.

Rant Over....thanks for listening :)

If you have too much money spend the $700. If you love registry problems, malware, bluescreens and regularly reinstalling and rebooting, stick with Windows. I would rather use my computer than to constantly fight the problems.

As stated I pay the subscription as I dont have £700 to spend but enjoy using photoshop. And as I use an iMac for exactly the reasons you stated about windows I'm hardly likely to be running into those problems. GIMP is a great program for free however I personally prefer photoshop. If you prefer GIMP then fine, you sir, as with all of us, are entitled to your opinion, it just rankles me when people like yourself pooh pooh anybody else's opinion if it differs from your own.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already as I haven't finished reading the full post yet but I currently use CS6 and pay for it via a monthly subscription with an annual commitment ie you agree to pay the monthly charge for at least 12 months and it costs me just £17:46 a month ( that's in pounds sterling) not sure what the cost would be in us/ Canadian but it works a much cheaper alternative to buying the full program but obviously you never own the software

He's just beautiful! My cousin's daughter has Asperger's. Unfortunately, they have not found something they can connect with. You're story is heartening.
I think his photo is beautiful. Tell him to keep shooting!!! And keep us up to date on his progress!

Will do Pinky!!! I hope you guys can find something that she connects with, photography for my son allows him to escape the chaos of over stimulation that aspergers causes and gives him the quiet safe place he needs. when he is looking through a viewfinder the world narrows for him to whats on the evf and allows him to focus on that, maybe the comfort of shutting out everything else helps him to focus, hence the eye for the picture...Sure wish I had an eye like that, photoshop is my saviour :)

Really hope everything works out for you, and thanks again for your comment.

Hi Guys
This s my 7 year old son Shawn at the Eden Project in Cornwall, UK with my old Kodak z650. He has Aspergers and Photography has really helped him come out of his shell, and it gives us something we can do together. Obviously I love my son and this is one of the many reasons I love photography. The first two pictures are of him by me the third is a picture he took at the farmhouse we were staying at in Cornwall. All 3 pix have had a contrast and brightness adjustment but no major tweaking.
Thanks for looking

All great pix, especially the water fall, small as it is.

I was born in Hammersmith Hospital (Wormwood Scrubs) next to the jail haha. The scubs were the site of anti-aircraft batteries and were a prime target for the German Bombers. Still after 25 years in Florida get home sick for London and Hastings.

I have a good friend with Aspergers who lives in the Suffolk Fens and would be happy to pass on her name if you need anyone to share info with.
My daughter was a patient at Great Ormond Street, maybe the finest Kids hospital in the world. Sadly She is in heaven now (not sad shes in heaven) but sad she is no longer here with me!

Thanks for the reply, I was brought up in Bermondsey in South London but now live just inside kent, we often go to hastings and were staying just outside of hastings for a week earlier this summer. Thanks for your kind words and for the offer of information and support from your friend although at this time we are being inundated with information as we have lots of people at the burgess autistic trust assisting us. I am really sorry for your loss, and cannot begin to understand the pain of losing a child.
On a lighter note have attached a few pictures i took in hastings this year for your perusal and memories. Have a great day

Wezza

If you want anymore pics of hastings, please PM me and I can email you some more. Many Thanks again for your Reply

very cool. I was introduced to photography by my dad (who was a pro). It was one of the few things we both had a passion about ( the others included collecting fossils, the NFL, civil war history, and western books and movies) I really didn't start improving until after I lost dad in 2000, so he never got to see my better work. I feel that I honor my dad's memory every time I take a shot. You have no idea how deeply your son will cherish the times you spend together with cameras. You are a great dad, give yourself a cookie! By the way i have been diagnosed to have traits of asperger's not the full blown syndrome but several of its symptoms.

This post means a lot, I'm so glad you could share those things with your dad and agree that you honor his memory with every shot you take. I love spending time with my son and thank god every day that I am able to share my love of photography with him and just spend quality time with him, I hope you are coping with your difficulties, Thanks truly for your comments, this post really made my day.
