You know what does threatened Great Blue Herons in the Everglades?! The real King of the swamp, crocodiles, and when there are no crocodiles in the area to threaten the Herons, they are being threatened by the other, more common, King of the swamp, Alligators. And, when the Great Blue Herons aren't on the lookout for their reptilian predators, they have Bobcats, Coyotes and Cougars to contend with; all very fast predators.
When you say simply flies away, how simple is simply? Up here in Pennsylvania, we don't have Alligators or Crocodiles or even Cougars, but, we do have Great Blue Herons, lots of them, and I've observed many of them take to the air numerous times and one word I wouldn't use to describe a Great Blue Heron taking to the air is, simple.

You clearly do not know the difference between simply and simple, morrison1116, I said he simply flies away, it is an adverb meaning clearly or plainly. I never said his flight is simple, as an adjective meaning modest or at the worst stupid. While we do have a few crocodiles, they are few and far between, we do not not, however, have cougars, we do indeed have panthers. But what ever you may think as a king of the swamp. the Great Blue Heron is the only one who wears a crown, as evidenced in the photo
