Great looking abstract David. Oil drop photography makes for a great rainy day project.

Absolutely!

David... so creative and I love the colors and the abstract forms!! Nice work, I might have to give this a try one day!!

It's not too difficult and can get quite engaging for several hours to get the right look. Oh, I forgot to mention to add a drop of dish soap into the water before adding the oils. It helps stabilize the oils.

A super effect, David. Looks great.

Thanks, DOOK! I takes a bit of somewhat messy experimenting though.

Fascinating, very engaging, particularly for the colors. Can you talk about their source, as well as the light, please?

There are many articles and videos for doing this...just google, "abstract bubble photography." Even Bryan Peterson has a video on it.

First, it's best to use a macro lens and tripod. For the subject, the basic set-up is to put a small amount of oil (olive oil, vegetable oil, sesame, etc.) into a small glass casserole dish (e.g., Pyrex) filled with water. The dish should be elevated about 16 inches. Then, put something colorful underneath. I use sheets of colored gels over a light source. The key is to get strong lighting under the oil/water to allow a faster shutter speed and smaller aperture (more DOF). I use either an old, slide-film lightbox or an LED light panel with a diffuser (e.g., white, plastic sheet). For this shot, I covered half of the light source with a blue gel sheet and half with an orange gel. To get the curved lines, just give the mixture a light swirl. To get bubbles inside the oil, poke the oil with a drinking straw.

Going back and trying abstract bubble photography again. This time using only olive oil. It looks like a Photoshop creation, but actually very minor post-processing; mainly cropping and spot-healing brush to clean things up.

There is a super moon this month on November 14,2016
I would appreciate any advice on how to get some good shorts.
I know just the spot to go to. There is a beautiful white church on a slight hill.
The moon will start to rise right beside the church.

The detail you captured is amazing. I can't help but feel for the poor buffalo - there's not much he can do about the flies except tolerate them.

Thanks! They probably have a very high tolerance threshold.

Excellent shot. It's so clear!

Thank you. I took this photo with the new Olympus 300mm lens for m43rds cameras (600mm equivalence in 35mm full-frame). It is the sharpest lens I've owned including those from Olympus/Panasonic as well as Canon "L" lenses.
