At one point, when my camera wouldn’t work with flash, I used an LED panel designed for video.

My GVMs are over 10"x10" and I would use them for photography, macro, but for people it is too bright even turned down, causes them to squint. That is what flash is for. But I would use these in a pinch and they have a decent surface area. For videos I think they would be great,

But the mini looked like it was 100 bucks for one light. I would spend the extra money for better lights. You have to buy 2 batteries for portability at $50 for two with charger.

That's not nice of them!

I've been using Quicken 2007 for years, moved to four computers.
Upon each install it wants to register, on-line, by modem......
Luckily I can say "later" and after maybe half a dozen starts, it gives up asking.

Here is the thread on adobe site, farther down it talks about CS6 as well.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/cs-3/td-p/12340229

Again. I don't use Adobe so the OP would need to talk to someone who has done this but I heard a long time ago that the validations servers closed down and you can't install the software anymore. But again. Don't quote me on that.

Hi all. Please be patient with me I am a computer dummy. Does anyone know if Topaz Photo AI fixes noise for the whole photo or just the faces. Are there different setting I can set for different things?? Thanks all and BE SAFE!!

Tom

Tom I am going to say no on this one or maybe kinda.
Jim Nix has a youtube video on what it does and how it works. https://youtu.be/9ipLVdv3hO8

So does it do just faces.. Yes and you have a switch, subject or all, and the face is seperate, BUT. It is mostly automatic. So in the other apps they have, it does AI, you can veiw the mask and if AI did not get it right you can go and edit out the parts it did not get right. This product does not allow you to do this. I think that is a bad thing at least for me because AI often gets it wrong especially faces.

So it has a trial so you can try it out and see how it works on your images. If you like it buy it if not, I would consider the individual apps which have a lot more flexibility including different models for different things.
Just my opinion, but try the trial is a fact, and try it before you buy it.

Thank you for letting me know that. I am still using Ps CS6 on my desktop tower. I have a dvd/cd drive in it. I used the same program disc on my old pc and later new pc. I deactivated Ps on the old machine before discarding the unit. I also kept the two HDDs and converted them to external archive use. But that is a complete different issue.

Good luck on that. I heard that Adobe shut down their validation servers on old software so you cannot validate old software. You will get to a certain point and you will not be able to go forward in the install. That is just what I heard, I don't use Abomination software.. I mean Adobe software so don't quote me on that.

Supposed to be here Wednesday from B&H Camera. Thought I would give it a try. Should have asked before ordering one but what are your thoughts on this little light?

If you need something small maybe the minis might work for you. I ordered GVM lights from Amazon. Better working size, lower price, softbox included, about $220 for two on sale, can run on batteries, bright output, color, phone app control.

It depends what you are going to use it for but if for video I think the panels do a better job, don't know what you would use it for photography for, but maybe that works for background or something.

I have been using PS CC for years now. I am happy with it, even if I use ACDSee for simpler tasks.

Now I find myself in a situation where creating images is not enough. I need a way to display them within a website. To do so, after trying multiple software, I have selected Dreamweaver. I am an ignoramus when it comes to this software. Lucky for me, YouTube to the rescue, right? Well, not quite, as in PS CC tutorial folks leave stuff hidden during their 'demonstrations'.

The cost is on monthly subscription....

Anyway, anyone uses Dreamweaver out there?

I would recommend you use a linux server, cheap like interserver.net, bluehost.com. ect. $2.50 per month in that area, shared hosting give you unlimited bandwitdth, storage, email accounts, the only limit being the number of files which is very generous 3-4 hundred thousand nodes.. If you have a huge number of hits you can upgrade to different levels up to your own dedicated server or VM for a modest price. Learn Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal they have wysiwyg and templates. The ability to assign rights to have others update pages using a word style interface so you don't have to do updates.

I have been generating websites off and on since 2000. I am down to two and rather not do it anymore but it is easy and with shared hosting (for smaller volume sites things load fast. Good luck.

That does not work like it used to when I learned DOS. Now I do it in two parts. Part one is all my data files, including photos and videos. I force my self to keep them in a master folder that is backed up to a large external drive. I hook up the backup to the new computer and copy using File Explorer.

The programs are harder. They need to be reinstalled one at a time. Basically, I just work through them one at a time. The Adobe programs are relatively easy because they are managed by the Adobe Creative Cloud app. A couple of clicks and they get installed. Others, like Topaz programs are more manual. Unfortunately my legacy Microsoft Word and Excel are fighting me and I may be looking for replacements.

There is transfer software that is supposed to let you hood the two computers with a wire or network and move everything. Too automatic for me so I don't trust them.

Thing are more portable now days and they work.

You can use macrium reflect or other backup software to image the C drive. Once backed up can be restored to another computer. Window knows most of the drivers and installs them at boot time on different hardware, anything it can't figure out, you install the drivers.

You can even restore your computer to a virtual machine, then it does not matter again about the hardware, windows is aware of the virtual machine, that way your new computer keeps it's files seperate and starts out with no registry bloat and if bought a desktop with 32 proccessor 64 thread and 32 gb of ram, you can allocate half your resources to the virtual machine and it would be just as fast as any gaming laptop (assuming you have the graphics card for it.

I tried putting my old manual Canon lens on my Sony a77 (or a99ii) using an adapter. Colors were way off compared to the regular DSLR lens, but that was just my experience. I still have my AE-1 Program. I last used it for a photography class at my local college. I still have lots of B/W film to go along with it, too.

Use manual white balance and set it before you shoot on that older lens.

Thanks. How do you transfer all the softwares from the old to the new one?

You can reinstall each application to your new system.

First you back up your new system. Then you can backup your current system restore it to the new system. Purchase a new windows license for the new and activate it on the new system. The old windows operating systemm will still function with the old license.

What is the best 17’ laptop for PS use only? Budget is around 2K. Thanks

I would buy an AMD laptop with an Nvidia discrete video card gaming laptop. Amd uses the 5nm process and are much more efficient, longer battery life, quieter fans, less heat.

Much closer M1 chip in efficiency is as fast or faster in multi thread applications with 8 cores and 16 threads.

My only question is to the definition of “vintage”.

A lens that is radioactive is a vintage lens. The don't include that feature anymore :)

The answer is yes you can tell the difference but depends

Your question was Who would care and I answered that. It may not matter to you and that is the Japan spark it depends on The photographer or the client.

You are the one who keeps asking questions and pushing the issue forward that questions The question was answered yes there are people who care yes and you can' tell the difference but it depends

Or would they care.....

So who would care? If you were entering a landscape contest, you have soft or noisy corner, you will not be taking first place.

Fast glass and nice bokeh are prefered and noticed by non photograhers. And while they may not say oh that was taken at f1.2 or 1.4, they will say it is a nicer image than a 2.8

If fast glass did not sell it would not exist. Wedding photographers use fast glass and shoot wide open. They notice and so do clients.
