(Please wait until Monday to begin posting in this challenge! Enjoy posting in the regular Sunday challenge first!)

This weekly challenge is "The Serenity of Winter"

Just about everyone knows how relentlessly brutal and depressing Winter can be. I am not a fan at all! But to keep this particular season from getting me really down, I push myself outside in order to take some shots of the underlying beauty that is still all around. It just needs to be sought out with a little more focus and determination!

When my own focus lies elsewhere than on just myself, I end up feeling better - even when icy winds are howling at my doorstep. I make sure I regularly get out with the camera to capture the beauty. This experience is soothing and serene. It makes Winter’s bite seem less severe.

Herein, please post images illustrating what “the serenity of winter” means to you! Enjoy yourselves - and stay cozy no matter what….

This is one of my favorite shots of the year not because of its quality, but for the memories of the day. This was the sunrise over Lake Superior right after my daughter got on a shuttle to take her to the starting line for Grandma's Marathon. It was her first marathon (and quite possibly her last) and the weather was perfect.

Nice photo. P.29. Memories are one of the best reasons to take photographs.

It is with sadness that I share with you the loss of fellow UHHer "Lorima" (Lorina Michelle Adkins) on August 13th. Many in this thread knew Lorima and her distinctive photo style. She was only 57 and had battled cancer for many years. She was born in Christ Church, NZ, and lived in Colorado with her husband and two sons (of whom she often spoke or posted). Lori was known for her love of family, baking, flowers, horses, nature and her photography. She was a sweet soul who came up with some extremely creative images and always an encouraging comment on the posts of others. As I recall, she also loved Disney World and traveled there with family during a time of remission.

In May 2022, Lorima hosted a challenge on birds. I had been reviewing the 2022 challenges and realized I'd not see Lorima in quite a while so, as one of her FB friends, I went to her page and that's how I learned she had passed. I searched through her UHH posts and have selected several of her images that are testament to her talent and some of the subjects she loved.

Love the Amish buggy - I assume it was taken through your car's windshield?

The camera was on a tripod next to a mailbox beside the road. Used a wireless remote to trip the shutter from several feet away while seemingly paying little attention to him. He did wave when I looked over as he passed by.
