The detail in tight crops from images produced with this sensor - with a 21mm wide angle fixed lens attached are superlative!

Just out of the box I shot dual exposure .3FR [RAW] and .JPG with my X2D, to see what a post-processing workflow as a .JPG would provide in quality as opposed to what a .DNG post-process quality would look like - Of course, No comparison. I customarily only shoot RAW images. Start with a 200MB Hasselblad .3FR [RAW]files, Convert in LRC from 150MB to 100MB Adobe .DNG files with a final smaller export for internet publish. Doing some color science testing here.

My wife and I were in Chicago this week. Have posed some images taken with my Hasselblad X2D from my sis-in-law and bro-in-law's residence there, overlooking Lake Shore Drive, the Navy Pier and the Chicago River.

I really enjoy mine, but as you noted the feature set is incomplete. Results are spectacular!

Took a trip to Chicago this week with my X2D.

Nice pic - Nice healthy and happy Bonsai.
Attached is pic of my chinese elm of several years.
I keep it's earth damp but don't water every day. Feed once a month.
The pot is deeper than it appears.

Thank you for the share - Buckaroo is doing well here in North Carolina. Been following the same path "...I keep it's earth damp but don't water every day..." I do have some fertilizer - do you recommend feeding once a month in the winter as well?

Based on your logic, the best all around camera is the iPhone 15.

If your objective is social media posts then the analytics get reduced to the lowest common denominator.

Like it or not, most sites will reduce your file to 2800 pixels on the long side, and you have to reduce the spectrum to 8 bit, using the truncated sRGB spectrum for electronic reproduction. Sure as hell do not need 61 meg FF for that. 24 meg is over-kill.

Besides making photos, I do retouching for major product advertisers ... like General Motors. Much donkey work for cars is done using CGI, but the glamor product stuff and lifestyle stuff is photography. Almost all of the images are done with Medium Format digital cameras ... mostly 100 meg Fuji GFX, Hasselblad H and now the new mirrorless, and of course Phase One. Not one Sony pic to date. Certainly not a cell phone shot, those fall apart when trying to retouch them.

I use a Leica Medium Format camera for most my commercial work, and a Hasselblad H before that, and a Contax before that. If you print your work, you will see a difference from those megapixel-shmegapixels ... and in a big way.

(By the way I use a Sony A7R-IV and A7R-V, and top optics for my less important work).

Thanks for sharing your expertise and medium format equipment use.
Whatever floats one's boat as a photographer is logical :-)
I am tracking my iPhone 15 Pro Max for delivery in a couple days.

While it's true that you can't see all the goodness on internet pictures, that quality is certainly implied, The smoothness and openness in tones can be seen.
Very nice, Thanks for sharing
I'm happy for you but also Happy that Hasselblad has gotten it right.

You got that right!

Here is 20.3 megapixel Canon 1DX MK3 image down sizes to 2.1 megapixels for a screen resolution of 1920x1280 to demonstrate size. A TS lens can do so much when it comes to landscape and portraiture. The resultant sensor size is double that of a Hasselblad.

Take note if you missed it... this image is 2.1 megapixels

Nice work. I have also reduced original file sizes to a few megabytes in post process for client publish - with a good level of resolution clarity. The attached is Hip-Hop artist 'Spinderella' with Head Coach Moton - reduced from 24MB to 3.5MB. This was shot by my wife last week in Durham [NC] with our 24.2-megapixel Sony a9 and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens.

I own the Hasselblad X1D 4116 edition with the XCD 30mm. I purchased both used at a very good price and have enjoyed them. I purchased them as I also own 2 Hasseblad 500c/m and 50, 80 and 150mm lens. They both are used for different things as I still enjoy shooting film. I also still shoot with a Nikon F2as that gets used more that my digital. I am very happy for your X2d purchase, use it for what ever you want and don't let anyone tell you it is not needed.

I have been shooting since a child [decades of use - from Nikon 35mm film SLR to dSLR]. Moved to Sony for mirrorless Full Frame. Been in mirrorless Medium Format with Hasselblad for the past couple days years. Most appreciative I have the means to acquire such superlative devices.

Not a coward, not spewing and I enjoy talking face to face about print quality and megapixel needs as a professional.

If you consider sensor size and the 100 mpxls spread out on a medium size sensor, the Hasselblad for sure will capture a massively fine image, but at a slower pace. It's ace card is more about sensor size and the quality of the photo sites than its megapixels...

My comment perhaps leans more to who is buying something like the X2D. It truly is the Ferrari of camera bodies and at the high end of professional imagery. The average wedding or magazine photographer may never need more than 12 mpxles but usually insist they need 60 or more.

I find myself considering a Hasselblad purchase at times, but hesitate for the Canon R1 arrival and its possible global shutter. The direction I take will most likely lean to th R1's ground breaking superior performance.
