Thanks ametha. I just thought someone might know a trick. It seems they can be programmed, just not for iso. It's awkward in manual mode to adjust iso on the back of the camera while framing a shot. I am loving my new d7100 and thank everyone again for the advice that helped me make my purchase.
New to D7100. Is there any other way to change ISO setting besides pressing ISO button on back of camera?
Once again good info to consider, Thanks
This is the first forum I have ever joined. Wow, the amount of information is almost overwhelming. I thank everyone for there input. I'm not exactly sure how it works, if I'm suppose to reply to everyone or when I reply, if I'm replying to everyone or just an individual but I guess I'll eventually figure it out. I have taken the advise I received and whittled down my list. Will wait for last comments and also hold off awhile on flash, lens, ect. Thanks once again for everyone's help and hope my forum etiqute is acceptable.
Almost all Nikon gear:

All I want is a little lens protection:
Nikon Mfr # 2288 $57.00 or Tiffen Mfr # W67DIGULTCLR $11.09 is there that much of a quality issue or am I paying for the name?
Rock solid information. Thank you.
Sounds like a done deal for me.
Thanks
Thanks, that about does it for now.
Photon56 mentioned extra batteries. If that's an issue should I look at $50 extra batt or $250 battery grip thing?
Sounds like solid advice.
Thanks for taking the time to respond. It appears the wireless adapter is a no go.
Thanks for the info. I thought the 35mm lens would help with my low light indoor shot but if you think the 18 - 300 will be about the same I'll consider. The sd cards I was picking mor for speed as my daughter canon's seem to get busy fairly often.
I want to improve the quality of the photos I take. Have been using a FinePix s9000 for a number of years, the last year or so with the command dial broken so I have been shooting mainly from auto settings. I have probably just almost forgotten about shutter speed, f/stop, and such. Mainly shoot grand kids inside normal light no flash and outdoors of sports or just playing. I was thinking about full frame but think I have a huge learning curve ahead. I did shoot film long ago with a Yashica and then a Minolta. I want to see if I'm on the right track and would enjoy hearing some comments on the starter equipment listed below.
