And, whenever possible, stay off the Interstates.....travel the other highways for a more satisfying trip. Rest for a couple days "now and again" and you will enjoy the trip more.......we ran from site to site, "with our tongues hanging our" "so-to-speak" and missed a lot of areas we still "kick ourselves" for not spending more time in each area.....and, we never had to be in this kinda' rush either.
YOU MAY HAVE TO "COPY AND PASTE" THESE LINKS TO VIEW THEM. This is just an example of how to view what you'll see at the various travel areas.........you can take it further from here.....LOL!!

Thanks, Cuz! Howard's Creek runs through the golf course and I caught some mighty "rainbows" there while it was still an airport.....now they have million dollar houses there for folks that have the "bucks"...here's a couple photos of the golf course area I made from Google Maps before a new "photographic flyover" with this view never to be seen again...the rectangular area was a German POW encampment area during WWII..and, at that time the "Greenbrier" was made into the "Ashford General Hospital" for the WWII wounded.....LOL!!

The airport - taken from Google Maps before a new flyover.

Here you can see why they moved the airport, also copied from Google Maps.

Hi from Aylett, VA.......just joined the website after being told of it by my fourth cousin ~jpintn~(just found him a few years ago while doing genealogy research - small world).....looking forward to viewing all of the excellent photography here....I am definitely an amateur, but still enjoy "clicking" everything(simple photography with Canon Powershot S2 IS)(am upgrading, just a little, this year and will be looking for tips about next step cameras)....am retired, be 80 (4/25) this year, have done a little traveling by auto and in a motorhome, which we lived in for five or six years, traveled to St. Lucia in the West Indies for Son's wedding, otherwise everywhere else is in the good ole' USA.....hometown is
Ronceverte, West Virginia (I know - you never heard of it, but I know you have heard of the world famous "Greenbrier Hotel"....nine miles from my home in the mountains at White Sulphur Springs, WV)

Thank you all , I will spend some time using a combination of a few of them .

Here's a public link to a few albums I have uploaded there......
it will be an example of how I setup my folders by giving them names relevant to what is included there....
everyone is welcome to view these photos, as I noted, it is a public website....

I file mine in "folders" which are given a name relevant to what is stored there......I don't find dates are important in my instance as the camera dates the photos, not on the face but within data stored in the photo and is available when I place the cursor on the "thumbnail", .....within the folder, in some instances, are sub-folders (which can be by dates)....I have a 4 GB external hard drive where they are stored (this is the second one as my first died and I almost lost all the contents, even two or more hard drives to duplicate the contents would be advisable if the photos are valuable and can't be replaced)

You can "Google" these and view "Images" in left sidebar and view "Maps" to see if they are within your travel route, so you can see them as you travel along and not have to jump back and forth. You'll probably be following I-10 from Phoenix over to New Orleans.....We made a similar trip as you are contemplating but, from WV......consult a map or, like us, you will miss lots of sights you'll drive by and not know it 'til you get home, LOL!!....

Just take the little cursor "hand" and drag the map to view then click "satellite" or "Earth" view to see what is actually there. Click to "zoom" the area you want or just enter the site you want to view....
