The owl photo that I use as a moniker for Hog was published in the family section of the Tucson Citizen. This is Tucson's only paper.

Very fun getting published! Nice work there, Rick!

Just curious has anyone had any experience with these new clip on lenses that attach to your cell phone? I have not used one but seen some advertisement pictures. The advertisements claim they are great. The pictures I have seen did not look very sharp.

These lenses are mainly just fun ... I have a modified Olloclip set that I use when I'm bored or just want something different.....
They also are tedious to use and finicky as to how they fit (on Android anyhow - The iPhone sets are better for placement...)
These are images from my old Nexus 5 phone/camera which is not a better known camera to begin with......

Taken near Crested Butte, CO with Canon 6d, 24-105mm at f22.

Very Awesome and well done image!

(However...in the sky of that image, I see a lot of black dots that are possibly dirt/dust on your sensor...??)

I own the Sony R7II a full frame mirrorless, as well as a Canon 6D & 7D. The mirrorless does NOT save anything in weight. The weight is all in the lens of choice, not so much in the camera body. If you want to reduce weight, replace the camera body with a small mirrorless or bridge camera, and any lenses with small, slow lenses. This will also reduce image quality and printable size.

Obviously depends on one's outlook on what "printable" quality size and structure means to a person. Having personally printed from 4" x 5" and 8" x 10" (in a Pro lab/studio I worked at) negatives before, I am astounded at the 30" x 40" print capabilities of modern MFT (my Olympus) and DX sensor cameras (my Nikons) having had printed those sizes in the past year from both. Snappy and Sharp on print, they are.
FF really, in my opinion, would come in play for me in lower light situations as in my previous 35 year stretch as a Pro Wedding photographer. The advantage of true F stop on full frame would be of no consequence either for me. At F1.4 on my 4/3 lenses, I have no problem with the slight difference of true aperture.

As to the OP's question of saving weight/space but keeping Image Quality - there is (in my humble opinion) no doubt! My Olympus kit is easily 1/2 the size of my Nikon DX bag.

Ciao!

I am thinking of getting a mirrorless Camera and would appreciate any advice. I have a Nikon D700 and lenses but due to severe arthritis in my hands the weight of the Camera is making it difficult to use. I have read that the mirrorless Camera are lighter in weight. Again, any advice will be appreciated.
I am new here but have enjoyed the posts.

I have an Olympus OM-D E-M10 and really like everything about it including using my nikon lenses and "Legend" Minolta lenses. Great flip screen! I Just framed a 24"x 30" print that is very sharp on close observation. So, great Image Quality for sure!

Folks - I am not a newbie but rarely find time to learn all the tricks and hence I am an auto-setting user on my Nikon D7100. I only have three lenses - 18-55, 35mm/1.8 and 50mm/1.8.

I want to know how to take a picture of a person who is running but is fully in focus, however everything around him/her is blurred. I have seen pictures of famous athletes like this. I was just curious. Any and all help is appreciated.

It's called "Panning"...Very fun to do and learn. I does take practice, however!

I have downloaded Nik, but no matter what I try, am not able to get it to run after it is installed. Did they quit letting you use it after 4/2016? thanks for any help, as I am a Luddite when it comes to computers. I am a struggling beginner photo and PC person, but really love all the info on UHH, Thanks everyone (Using Win 10 PC)

I believe it will not run as a stand alone program. I use it as an Plug In add on to my PhotoShop Ele. 14.

I have 1,730 points about to expire at Robert's Camera. That's $17.30. It wouldn't make much of a dent in the purchase of a new body or lens, butI hate to let it go to waste. If I found something priced at $17.30, it would probably be something I would never use. I looked at their offering of books under $30, and the ones I wanted are out of stock. Of course, if I do buy something, I'd accumulate even more points and have to find a way to spend them. I'll look again later and see if they have anything in that price range that I really want.

I know MTFs are somewhat "flexible", but it just occurred to me that I don't remember ever seeing if there is a wavelength requirement. Specifically, when the MTF is calculated, is it, or can it be done with a narrow frequency band, or is there a "requirement" that a flat white light including the entire visible frequency band be used?

This is not an answer to your inquiry - just my opinion of the matter.....

Hmmm....well, I'm into the "Art of Imaging" - not the science of it per say. Honestly, I don't need to worry my pea brain about wave lengths. I've sold many of my results never knowing the MTF (Sharpness Performance - Transference of Detail - Contrast) of any particular lens. My Micro 55mm F 2.8 Nikkor lens is one of the sharpest/contrasty (debatably) lens available. That 55mm rarely gets used for any of the type of work I do.
- Just my opinion of course - not trying to be negative.
I know this stuff is important to many people.

I have the D7100....does everything I need it to do. Great camera body. The D7200 is basically a software/slight feature upgrade, and if what is updated/graded seems better to you, get the D7200. I would if the price was not a factor and I didn't already have the D7100.
Google the difference between the two, see what you think!
