In my neck of the woods, the males are MUCH brighter even in the dead of winter, with 2 feet 1.9 meters of snow on the ground.

If you are thin skinned stop reading. Photo 1 seems overexposed, needs a little more contrast Cropping out the butt at left would help.
Photo 2 white is burned out and blacks are underexposed. People at left should be cropped out.
Ideally, the composition should remove extraneous items and the rule of thirds should be applied.
My opinion, for what it's worth.

I'm a recent D7000 owner and after 25 years of Film (4x5 and 2ΒΌ" ) I converted to this unit. It is quite good and has many accessories available, but I should have gone for the full frame version, like d4.

Multiple external drives and a program like "Second Copy" to reduce the number of times one has to instruct the computer to save an additional copy is recommended. At the price of External drives, there is no reason to lose all copies. There is last recourse file retreival software available also.
