Unsolicited boost.
Although I will not be able to join in I look forward to seeing the “returns” by those that do. Back in the 50’s at the “request” of my Uncle Sam I spent almost two years in Chincoteague and have returned whenever I could to spend time in the area. Those who will be visiting for the first time can look forward to what is still a semi-remote area which hasn’t changed too much from my time there almost 60 years ago. (Not counting Salisbury MD. :) )
If you are able to join this and are on the fence, I encourage you to join in. I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed.

Let me rephrase the question. If you are planning to be away for an extended period of time is there a "preventative maintenance" procedure that is recommended to insure that you wont have clogged nozzles when you return? It seems like a hell of a risk to take when replacement parts are so expensive.

But
What do you do if your going to be away for an extended period of time? If you wont be near the printer and can't run it once a week or so?

Just as photography is a creative hobby/business so is the use of flash. As posted here beside its use in dim light it can also be used as a fill to reduce a out door high contrast. There are many ways to use your flash. On camera, off camera, bounced, diffused...... Recently I was trying to photograph during a snow storm and wanted to show the flakes. Without flash I could get a decent exposure but the flakes were small and disappeared into the background. So, I used the flash to get them to reflect back to the lens. (The technique will require some more experimenting but it will work.) The point being to keep your mind open and don't be afraid to experiment. It's not like you have to pay for film development. :)

I have a related question for those of you that use ink printers. A common statement is "run your printer once a week to keep it from drying out and clogging up".
If you're planing to be away for an extended period (3-4 weeks) what is the procedure?

Basicly you are buying the 2 non-autofocus lenses. The F body, with Photomic Ftn finder, was a wonderful camera, but not worth much these days.

The 60MM mounted on the camera is an auto focus lens (and a good one).
Buy the package, keep the 60mm and use the rest for attractive paper weights

The 60mm Micro AF is worth at least the $110.00. New they go for $469.
Strange to see one mounted on an old "F".

An additional comment; once you get a lens for your camera the balance will change and it will feel better in your hands.
(unless of course you get super telephoto :) )

Truth be told, I actually like a camera with weight. I used to keep quick-reeleases on my A-1's just so they would be a touch heavier.

Weight is fine. It's just that I have short fingers and a small hand, so the Mark ii becomes all about repositioning and stretching.
Oh well, with your endorsement, I see I will just have to just get a life and get used to it.
I should be posting PIX soon. :-P

I feel sure that you will come to grips with the camera vs short fingers (pun intended) From a similar perspective, for a man, I have very short and stubby fingers but still was able to learn how play the guitar because I was determined to. The short fingers were just an obstacle to over come.
( Stretching does help. :) )

What you said was; "the ratio between the aperture diameter and the lens diameter" I think you understood what you meant, but what you actially said was incorrect.

I sit corrected. Thank you.

I thought that's what I said??

Unfortunately, left over from the dark ages of film, is the idea that big numbers like f16 are the little holes and small numbers like f2 are the big holes.

Fortunately, left over from the age of enlightenment, aka the days of film :) , is the idea that aperture numbers like f16 and f2 are expressed as the ratio between the aperture diameter and the lens diameter.
Or to help your understanding, consider the f to equal 1/

To me it appears that your point of sharpest focus is towards the back of the flower. Look at the petal, lower left. Its bottom edge is "tack sharp", the center of the flower seems soft to my admittedly old and tired eyes.

I don't think a photo can ever be too sharp. They can always be softened in
post but if it starts out soft, post sharpening can't really fix it without ugly halos.

Stay in Williams , AZ it's closer than Flagstaff there are motels B&B's a Hotel or two and if you want to take the Grand Canyon train up to the canyon it a lot of fun as it is a old steam one from the twentieth century.

I don't believe they are running steam on a regular basis anymore but it is still a good trip.

While in Tucson there is plenty to see. For me the number one would be the San Xavier del Bac Mission (AKA the White Dove of the Desert) south of town.
Then there is the Old Tuscon movie set and of course the desert museum.

This was the first I've learned of the 500PX web site so I visited it. A humbling experience to say the least. There are some truly magnificent works to be found there. Whether they are works of art or photographic works I'll leave to others to determine. For me they are works of inspiration.
Thank you all for bringing it to my attention.
