If one can believe the latest Nikon Rumors, the Nikon 7200 is to be released before the end of next month!

That month would be March right?

A older 80-200 af 4.5 5.6D travels with me on trips. It's not the best but it is small, light and can get the job done. A 300AF f/4 ED is a magnificent piece of glass. in addition
I still use several manual focus lenses with a D600. Currently the one that stays on the camera is a 24mm f/2.8 AIS. I actually kind of use this as a point and shoot lens as I keep it set for f/8 at 1/125 with auto ISO and focused at about 9 feet. This puts just about everything within it's hyperfocal range. (important with a manual focus and old tired eyes) There is also a 35mm, a 105mm and a 135mm in the kit. These lenses served well 30 years ago and they don't wear out if treated kindly so why not keep on using them?

When ever I order on line (often)If I am in a hurry I will pay for shipping that meets my needs. If I am not in a hurry and the vendor offers free shipping I will use that and accept how ever it is shipped and how ever long it takes.
I would feel out of line complaining about a vendor's choices when they foot the bill.

It was a good purchase for $700 with a Sigma 2x converter. The converter is worthless unless you use live view on my 5Dlll then it will AF. On the 7D don't even waste your time. The guy I bought it from had it for 6 months and gave up using it on his 70D.

The EXIF data shows that you were zoomed to 267mm. At f/10 for 267mm focused at 300 feet your depth of field is ~258 feet. That easily covers from 1st to home and beyond. You could open up to f/8 no problem and still have plenty of DOF coverage, Up your shutter speed to 1/1000 or so. Want to take it further? bump the ISO and go to 1/2000

As others have said, motion blur.
That is a pretty good promo picture for the lens. I think I need to have one!

There are many places with photographic opportunities in southern Arizona that don't make the usual lists. While driving through the area stay alert for chances. One that comes to mind as I'm sitting here at the keyboard is "Texas Canyon" just east of the town of Benson, off of route 10 take the exit for Dragoon. When the light is right the rock formations are a wonderful subject. This exit will also take you to the Amerind Foundation and museum.

There is so much to see and do in southern Arizona that three days probably won't be enough. I'll bet that you'll start planning your next visit before this one is over.

I guess you have lost the original topic of this thread. Being a Press sponsored event, the photos were probably meant to pertain to news related topics. As such, manipulation and creativity in post processing is not considered a good practice, regardless of the tool one is using.

I'm sorry. I was responding to an all encompassing statement that did not restrict itself the the original post.

thus a fundamental problem with digital users. the lack of credibility in the final image. it's called lying and the greatest sin of a lie is it changes the reality of the viewer.

I guess there are those who believe that there is only one use for any tool.
A hammer is for driving nails, do not us it to crush ice!
Then there are those who think that their ideas of right and wrong are sacrosanct.
And then there is the rest of the world.
When many photographers use a camera, whether film or digital, their goal is to create an image. Not necessarily to record a moment in time and place. The camera creates a canvas which the user then proceeds to manipulate to produce the image that was in his/her mind. That is not lying that is being creative.

I guess Mathew Brady was the ultimate photojournalist as he used the photos just as he shot them. Of course he moved bodies and equipment around prior to the shot so that was ok.

Ask your self if you'd feel comfortable buying a 1 year old car (with warranty) that had 4094 miles on the odometer, at a considerable discount from the new price.

JohnSwanda, true enough though I just pulled those off the top of my head as a way to illustrate a point. There as been a trend to consider any photo that has been PP as somehow contemptible.
