Great shots....are you sure an oil well is not on fire?
I'm impressed that you hand held that monster and obtained that shot.
Well done.
Pleased you enjoyed them. It was my 1st trip to Africa.
The Impala and Lilac Breasted Roller were shot in the vicinity of Little Vumbura Island in Botswana. The Saddlebilled Stork and wild dogs were shot in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. My trip started in Victoria Falls, Tanzania and ended in the Sabi Sands of South Africa
These are taken with my Canon 7d and a 100-400 mm.
I'm working up the will power to print a few

I'm confused on how to "push up sharpness two levels"..I go into the menu I only see choices from "auto" through "faithful"...but no level adjustments.
The Busch book (Canon 7D) on page 202 & 203 on sharpness left me in a haze as to how to do this.
Sorry for such a fundamental question

Cassy,
I use the 100-400 hand held as my go to bird in flight lens.
Having said that if it is too heavy:
A mono pod is a fine way handle a 100-400. If your shooting from a boat it does not work well...need to be on land.
Or go to a 70-300 with a tele extender (check out if you can hand hold)
