Nikon calls them a firmware update.
Here is the link to nikon's download site. Read the PDF for excellent instructions for updates.

Do you know that updated software downloads are available from nikon.
I recently upgraded my D200, D7000 & my P7000 cameras.
The best download was for the P7000 coolpix.
This download transformed this camera from a useless device to a quality camera.
I strongly advise anyone with a nikon camera to check the latest downloads from nikon so you can upgrade the software. You will need some computer skills, but a PDF gives you step by step guidence to install the latest upgrades. Bill

I want to try a roll or two.
What B&W film gives the best quality & who can process it.
I believe walmarts & wallgreens pharmacy still process film??
From your experience does film give a better picture than just setting a digital camera on B&W setting?? Thanks Bill

The only thing that goes wrong with them are the foam seals for the mirror & proper lubrication of the shutter mechanism to prevent shutter squeak.
I had comet camera in philly do the repairs for my A-1.
I still have much literature & many lenses for my A-1.
I may try some B&W film to check it out. Bill

Nikon P7000 camera with extras, Vello LCD protector, Nikon belt carrying case & one extra EN-EL14 battery.
I am the original owner purchased 9-23-2011. Camera carries a one year warranty with nikon USA.
The camera also has the nice feature of a viewfinder as well as a LCD, which in bright sunlight is hard to see.
The latest firmware from nikon has been downloaded to this camera. Firmware 1.2 features.
•Autofocus performance has been increased for more reliable focus acquisition on the intended subject, reducing the number of cases in which focus on the subject was not acquired or focus was acquired on the background when the shutter-release button was pressed halfway.
• Auto bracketing and the self timer can now be enabled at the same time.
•Aperture settings at or near maximum aperture were grayed out and apparently unavailable for selection (selection was actually possible) when the following procedure was performed. This issue has been resolved.
•An aperture value other than maximum aperture was applied with shooting in [A] (aperture-priority auto) mode
•The camera was turned off
•The camera was turned on again
•The user attempted to adjust the aperture setting (aperture settings at or near maximum aperture grayed out)

•An issue that prevented operation of the specified function when the shutter-release button was pressed while the Fn (function) button was held down in [M] (manual) mode has been resolved.
•An issue that in some rare cases caused inaccurate shutter speed display in [M] (manual) mode has been resolved.
•An issue that caused an asterisk (*) to be displayed, and continue to be displayed even when settings were reverted to their default values, next to the Vivid Picture Control (COOLPIX Picture Control) option when User Setting U3 was enabled has been resolved.
•The results of adjustments to White balance>Choose color temp. using the P7000's NRW (RAW) processing function on NRW (RAW) images were the opposite of those achieved with adjustment of NEF (RAW) images captured with Nikon digital-SLR cameras (higher settings resulted in bluer images while lower settings resulted in redder images). P7000 settings have been reversed for operation and results similar to that of D-SLR cameras.
•An issue that in some extremely rare cases caused NRW (RAW) images to become completely black with editing using the camera's NRW (RAW) processing function or with RAW processing using ViewNX 2 has been resolved.
•An issue that caused borders and outlines in images to appear rough with playback on an HDTV when the camera was connected to the TV via an HDMI cable has been resolved.

The camera is in mint condition & has taken about 300 photos. $350.00 & free shipping to the lower 48 states.

Batteries such as EL-EN14 should you keep these batteries charged on a regular basis or are you better off charging them before use.
I have heard this type of battery can only be recharged say 500 times.
If you don't use the camera for several months which senereo applies.

I have done many camparisons between the nikon 18-200 & the tamron.
The VR on the tamron seems to work faster than the nikor.
However the nikon auto focus's faster than the tamron.
Quality between the two would have to be done in the lab. Taking shots & looking at them blown up to 18-13 the results seem to be close.
In a lab test the nikor would probably shine.
For general photo shots on vacation i would take the tamron.
For true quality on local use i will use the nikor & use other lenses to fill the extremes. Bill

I just purchased a 18-270 tamrom. I also have a nikor 18-200.
The tamron seems like a quality lens. It seems like a very handy lens to take on vacation to cover a little more telephoto.
Has anyone seen lab tests on the tamron. The nikor is sharp as a tack.
The weight is very close. I have taken some shots with the tamron & the results look great. It has VR & a ultrasonic motor built in the lens. I have a nikon D200 body.
Any feedback from other users. V/R Bill
