A few from today. Most seem to still lack sharpness. Possibly i'm getting too old to hold the camera steady.

I believe they are all screw thread.

I would look for a M42 to Pentax K- Mount if your camera is a Pentax. When using an adapter the lens will be totally manual.
Occasionally I use one of the M42 screw mount lenses on my Sony's and they work great. Some lenses may extend into the camera too far and you won't be able to use them. You could possibly add a small extension tube on the camera to move the lens out.

How do these light meters work or how do you know if they don't work? I haven't looked close at this camera. I just am opening and observing all this stuff and have no clue how they work other than being manual and having to choose film with the wanted ISO range.

Put in some new batteries. There is a port on the bottom. Screw on a lens. Look through the view finder. There should be a needle on the side. By turning the aperture ring or the shutter speed dial you adjust the needle in the center to achieve correct exposure. Use a shutter speed appropriate to stop any motion. Adjust the aperture to center the needle. If you prefer a different aperture set that first and adjust the shutter speed to the needle is centered. If the shutter speed is below 1/30 use a tripod. The needle will rise or fall depending the lighting in the scene. After adjusting the exposure. if you point the camera up at the sky you will see the needle raises up because of the brightness of the sky. Make sure the needle is centered on what you intend to photograph. Changing the ASA/ISO of the film also will affect the sensitivity of the needle. I hope this helps. If you intend to use the camera regularly you should learn the relationship between shutter speed and aperture and when and why to change them. If the needle doesn't move when you point the camera from the sky to the ground. Most likely the meter isn't working or the batteries are dead.

Fellow hoggers, I inherited this film equipment from my Dad who passed away several years ago. I remember him using this equipment when I was a boy. I've only used digital equipment in the past and have no idea if this is worth pursuing to use/sell or even if film is worth the effort due to cost to develop or even if anyone still develops these days. I appreciate your comments! I do know he took great care with his equipment and am confident that it still works.

Pictures below if they all load on this site!

I had a pair of Asahi Pentax Spotmatics that were purchased in Thailand during the Vietnam war. I used them for years and shot many excellent pictures. I wish I still owned them. I would get some film and use them. My only complaint with the spotmatics was after a few years the built in light meters quit working. I just used the sunny 16 rule and kept using them. I gave them away in the 80's to my nephews.

Minolta changed mounts over time. MC, MD, AF or A mount. The MC most likely means a Minolta/Konica lens.

That's what I thought. I also thought that the MC and the MD were interchangeable. I never thought about MC meaning Multi-Coated. Although that makes sense. I will be digging out some old lenses today and checking.

Beautiful pics Thanks! How much did you pay for the Sony 100mm? I know the Minolta 100 is available on eBay. That’s where I bought mine but paid around $350 a few years ago. It’s completely Mint! I got lucky as they can be moldy and have issues due to age. I think when Sony people realize the awesomeness of this Minolta lens everyone will buy one and save hundreds over the same branded Sony! I do agree the Minolta 70-210 f4 Macro is nearly as good. And it’s just Cool!

The Sony cost me $799.99. I bought it about 3 years ago. The Minolta if I remember correctly cost me about 80 bucks. For the difference in price the quality and sharpness isn't really any better. The Sony does have, A non-rotating focus ring, a circular aperture, focus hold button and focus range limiter, and it uses the camera image stabilization and takes advantage of both TTL and ADI. Other than that the Minolta performs just as well.

Has anyone used either of these wonderful lenses? I have a mint copy of the original Minolta 100mm on my Sony A77 ii and cannot believe the image quality of this old (1986?) lens! I also use the Beer Can for macro work which also produces amazing images. I read that Minolta made their own glass for these lenses. Can’t decide which lens is better for Macro photography. Thoughts?

I have the newer Sony 100mm macro f2.8 and the 70-210mm Minolta. both are great lenses for macro. The sharpness on both is very close to the same. If the shot is still I usually go to the Sony 100mm. If there are moving insects involved I choose the Minolta 70-210mm to keep from scaring them. At times I use a small extension tube on the Minolta. Below are pics taken with those lenses. The moth was taken with the Minolta and the flower with the Sony.

I am old enough to know better, but none the less, I bought a couple of Sony batteries on Ebay for my Sony RX10 IV. When I received them, they were in appropriate packaging and the label looks authentic. In face the label looked so authentic, a closer look with a magnify glass indicates that the label says "Europe Only".

My question, is there any reason I can't use this battery on a camera purchased in the US? Thanks for your help.

It looks to me like you aren't allowed to put them in the trash can in Europe.
