Could it be that some other knowledgeable photographers are simply trying to help him, and giving other options besides monochrome in camera. When I convert a color image to B/W it's a one click process in Topaz Studio. Which is free BTW. Many realize the OP may be a novice and are simply giving him other options available in the conversion process, which there are many. Nothing wrong with that.

Jakebrake - - I just noticed Your screen name. Did You drive big trucks? I drove 18 wheelers 28 years until I had a heart attack, then that took care of that. Just wondering since I'm not a fellow Marine. I was Army, Nike Guided Missile Repair. Anyway, the reason for this reply is I would like to apologize to You, and any other Hoggers who read My post earlier, and to the OP who asked the question. I have noticed other posters on this site that seemed to respond to others questions in a rather short and rude way and I must admit I responded the same way You did when I read them. I had that coming. Normally I am not like that at all. It is just a bad time for Me. I am now a Widower and it is hard to get used to. Just would have been our 38th anniversary, and then Her birthday, and then Thanksgiving, all within 2 weeks. I just got out of the hospital December 1 after a bout with Afib (irregular heartbeats that can cause blood clots and a stroke). I have been fighting a severe rash on both legs for about 5 years and My Doctor just told Me that He has been treating Me with steroids for it, but now He thinks it is some kind of fungal infection and a fungal infection feeds off of steroids and grows bigger. I was already taking 20 some different meds and after the Afib problem I got another med to add to My collection. Another blood thinner called Eliquis with 11 refills, which retails for little over $500. for months supply. After My insurance it will only be $116. each month. Nuts, I'm already medicine poor. Yesterday I got word from the Doctor that I am to stop the steroids for the rash and start a new medicine called Naftin Gel. It only cost a little over $400. a tube; $58. after insurance. Shortly after getting home from the hospital I came down with one hell of an upper respiratory infection which has prevented Me from going to bed at night because of drainage backing up in My throat, choking Me and waking Me up. So I have spent the last 4 nights leaning back just a little in the recliner to try and get some rest. I am tired, fed up with Doctors, and I'm afraid I got up this morning just looking for someone to pick on. Should have picked on the cat since She decided to play with Her water bowl last night and spilled it all over the kitchen floor. Goofy cat tries to bury it after She drinks what She wants. Now that I have laid out My health record and current life for everyone to see I do want to apologize again for being a 'Grumpy Old Man" this morning. Remember, if it happens again its' not Me. Its' the Doctors, side effects from the meds, the cost of all the meds, and the cat! Just kidding. I do apologize though. Best to all.

Isn't that what the OP is doing? Asking for help with a camera setting he doesn't understand how to accomplish. That's what the forum is all about! Sheesh............

No it isn't what the OP is doing. The OP asked how can I take a B&W picture with My T6. Did not ask about using software how to make a B&W picture. It indicates to Me that this person is a novice who knows very little about cameras and will probably want to use it as a point and shoot, and probably hasn't read the manual.

Well, I didn't vote him into office and at times I think he should "put a sock in it!" as Fonzie used to say. If he actually runs for a second term I won't vote for him then, either. So yes, I'm not a Trump supporter.

Would You rather have had Hillary?

i have a canon rebel t6 camera how do i take black and white pics? thank you

Why is it on this site when someone asks a question like this that all the so called experts go off on 10 different tangents about how You can wind up with a B&W picture by using various ways through software like taking a picture in color and then converting it to B&W. It is completely confusing to someone who would ask a basic question like this. It should be a very simple answer like read Your manual. It will explain everything. If You read something in the manual that You just don't understand then ask someone on here to help clarify the information.

Nope - and I've rebuilt the box with a pure operating system - no company bloatware... and with a couple of nat tables and firewalls, I'm not concerned

READ the article:

Researcher Michael Myng found a deactivated keylogger in a piece of software found on over 460 HP laptop models. A full list of affected laptops is here. The keylogger is deactivated by default but could represent a privacy concern if an attacker has physical access to the computer.

You are interpreting that statement the wrong way. If someone hacks into Your computer through a network, be it wired, Wi-Fi, or what ever, They can change any key or setting in said computer without You knowing it, PERIOD! Just out of curiosity, do You have remote assistance allowed in Your computer? It is usually turned on by default.

Is it only laptop? I just purchased a desktop HP. Should receive it tomorrow via UPS. I was surprised it was being built in China and not in US.

I am not sure about desktops. Laptops are all that was mentioned. Just My personal feelings, but I wouldn't buy any computer made by HP. They are over priced for the lack of quality that is in their parts and they are too proprietary. Too hard to upgrade!

Sorry but what is a keylogger, good thing/ bad thing. I thought it was a place somewhere in Florida

A keylogger will track every key You type on Your keyboard. Buying something online? The keylogger will capture Your credit card numbers as You type them and send that info to the hacker. Boom!!! There goes Your bank account balance.

Another thing. I have not been on the hog very long, but I have picked up 2 malware/virus's through private messages on the hog already. I know how to clear them from My computer because I went to a community college and took a 2 year Associates Degree in programming, and I custom build gaming computers. Good high end ones. I have been debating whether or not to say anything about the 2 attacks because I am new here and I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. No offense to the bird photographers. I would suggest everyone use a good internet security program like Eset and CCleaner and Malwarebytes to protect their machines. Wouldn't You know My license ran out recently and I thought I would be alright for another month until after Christmas expenses before I renewed My license. I tried the free AVG. Big mistake; not the first time AVG has let attackers through the system!

Must be HANDS ON to activate - so unless you leave your laptop sitting unattended in a public space, no issues -

Wrong!!! If anyone hacks Your laptop all I takes is a simple hacker program to activate the switch that is in the registry. Anymore Your computer is at risk the moment You turn it on.

Credit Karma. It is free and they also give you helpful tips to improve your score. Fixed income is tough to change your debt to income ratio (which is a big factor in determining your creditworthiness, just don't let that determine your 'worth'.) I finally have a decent credit score, however, if I want to keep it, actually using my credit card (yes, 1) is out of the question.

Don't ever click on credit karma unless you want your inbox loaded with all kids of garbage email. They sell your info to all kinds of places that will junk up your computer with all kinds of trash.

I think it depends on how you view your camera and your computer. One approach is to use your camera to collect raw material which you then turn into works of beauty in your computer. I, on the other hand, search for beauty in nature which I attempt to capture with my camera and then process in my computer so it looks as much as possible like the beauty I saw in nature. Both approaches are perfectly valid. I don't change a dull sky to brilliant colour in my computer, I prefer to wait until the sky really is spectacular and take the picture then. But I don't consider my approach any more valid than the post processing approach. If the result is good, it's good. How it came about doesn't matter to me as long as the image is not presented as something it is not. Photographs that are staged and represented as being candid and pictures of captive animals being entered in wildlife photo competitions are beyond the pale to me. Photography and photographers should be honest.
I think it depends on how you view your camera and... (show quote)

I think this is a very good post. The very first sentence stood out right away for Me. How You view Your camera and computer. When I was just out of high school (1961) I enlisted in the US Army, went to Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL right after basic training for Nike Guided Missile training and after graduation went Korea for 15 months out in the boondocks with nothing to do, so I wet to the small PX We had looking for something to do with My free time. Looking back at Me in one of the display cases was a Canonet 35mm. I bought it and a couple rolls of Kodachrome 64 and started collecting boxes of transperancies of the sites in the Korean countryside. Some of it is actually very beautiful along the coast of the Yellow Sea and the nearby hills. That little camera produced the most beautiful pictures with vibrant true colors I have ever been able to capture. Skies were always bright true blues with out the use of polarizers, and grass a beautiful green. No post processing back then, no computers, and really there was no need to. I think todays consumers have in a way forced camera manufacturers to put so many goodies and gadgets and adjustments on cameras that they are no longer cameras. They are more like digital paint brushes along with the computers and software allowing people to edit everything that comes out of the camera. I think We are almost forced to edit what these new cameras produce in order to wind up with a satisfactory image. Just My opinion; digital paint brushes. I can see it now. I'll get hammered for this one!
