This is a photo from July 13th, 2015 at the Snake River Overlook in GTNP. It was taken at 8:47 that evening as my wife and I enjoyed one of our favorite views of the park. Best viewed in Download.
Every now and then when traveling, you run across something unusual worth a picture. Here are a couple of mine.
If you are ever in the Tetons, try to spend one sunrise at this location. A short hike from the parking area is required (bear spay good idea) but well worth the effort.
Exactly- easily found near a parking area pullout.

Actually it is an early morning shot. This view is facing west. You can see the effects of the sun as it casts a golden glow onto the trees in the Snake River valley. The best early morning shots from this location occur when the sun is rising in a clear sky to the east and some clouds have formed over the Teton range to the west.
Early morning at the overlook made famous by Ansel Adams. The plaque commemorating his iconic shot was just to my left.
This is a shot from my first trip to Yosemite in 2010. Even though its been done millions of times, it was great to have the chance to get my own capture.
Thanks to all who have chimed in with additional photo timelines, background and history on this monument.
Attached is another view.
If you visit the Black Hills area of South Dakota, make sure to visit the Crazy Horse Monument. It won't be completed in my lifetime, but is far enough along to be worth a stop.
This beautiful waterfall sits on the west side of the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway which connects Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone NP. Keep an eye out for it if you are ever in that area. This was taken during a late September visit in 2017.
Among the beautiful sights to behold in Yellowstone are the multiple waterfalls. My favorite is Lower Yellowstone Falls where you have the opportunity to view it from both sides of the canyon.
On my first visit to Yosemite in 2010, I was exploring the Valley and came across this view of Yosemite Falls. This is a composite of 2 photos - 1 for the foreground trees and another for the falls. It was my first ever attempt to merge 2 photos.
We had the pleasure of staying at the iconic Old Faithful Inn several years ago. If you ever visit Yellowstone, make sure you take the time to explore this incredible old structure. Just steps from Old Faithful itself.
