after I got home I hurried out to the front yard to take a couple of quick shots
of the beautiful Sun going down among the clouds left over from the stormy day.

Upper shot with my Sony RX-100m3 ISO 125, 1/400 sec. at F4 on Auto mode.

Lower shot about 4 minutes later with my Sony A6000 in auto mode again.
ISP 100, F8 at 1/125 sec. with the Sony Kit (18-55mm )lens.

The view was changing fast.

My first post of pics here BTW. I've been following here for a few months now
after deciding that I needed a better backpack camera than my little Nikon
CoolPix with the tiny sensor.
I started out in Junior High School with my Mother's Kodak Brownie Box camera
with 620 film. I made a makeshift darkroom in our basement bathroom by stuffing
towels under the door to keep light out. I had a plastic developing roll up developing
tank for the film and made contact prints with a piece of glass to hold the negative
on the paper.
Photography has come a long way since 1960.

ps; I'm fine with the houses being blacked out. They are a distraction from the capture
that I wanted, sky and clouds.

The Red Squirrels here in Fort Wayne, IN (northeast IN) seem to be thriving
on oak tree acorns. During a walk in Shoaff Park you see many of them in
and around the oak trees. A few Red tail hawks around the park too picking off
the occasional squirrel.

I've been watching this; https://www.berry.edu/eaglecam/ for about the last 4 years.
It has been the same pair of Eagles on this nest and they have been very successful at
raising chicks to fledge until this year when they lost both chicks. The usually start rebuilding the
nest in Dec. and lay eggs in Jan. It's interesting to check in a few times a day when
you can see the little bobble heads on the nest.

I like #2 better. The mountain is more prominent in the composition
and it reminds me of photos of Mt. Fuji in Japan. Or of the wood block
print by a famous Japanese artist. Can't remember the name right now.

I've mostly been hiking/backpacking with small, easy to carry in a shoulder strap pouch
compact cameras.
Recently bought a Sony DSC-rx100iii to carry on that tradition but with a
larger sensor.
Today I took the wife's Canon Rebel T6i out to a local park with the 55-250mm
lens on it to get some bird/squirrel shots. That's the first time I have walked
with this camera and it's a pita compared to my compact camera.
So how do you carry that heavy rig you use on a hike ?
I started out using the shoulder strap but with the telephoto lens it hangs down
too much so ended up just carrying it in my right hand.
That made me think too.... How do Left Handers use the typical camera ?
Become ambidextrous ? The typical modern camera is made for right handed
people with the swelled right side grip.
Incidentally, I like the Starbucks VIA instant pouches as my trail coffee.

The colors in the first image are truer. In the HDR'd image you changed the color of the
shake roof. The old roof (very gray) was changed a few years ago. It looked like new
wood.

Were you using a Circular Polarizing Filter for that image ?
