A and B batteries:
Most old radios used two batteries. The A battery supplied filament current (usually 1.5 volts) to the tubes, and the B battery supplied a higher voltage (often 90 volts or 47.5 volts} to the rest of the radio.

Hello fellow hoggers,
Today I was looking at UHH and my mouse stopped working. I figured the batteries needed replacement (simple, right?). Turns out that one of the two DURACELL 2025 batteries had leaked and was almost impossible to remove.
I cleaned the terminal with CAIG DeoxiT and the mouse was saved from permanent damage.

Beware. I've had this happen with Duracells before and try to avoid them. These batteries were installed and the mouse in used daily, so I thought things were okay. I always purchase ENERGIZER or Ray-O-Vac batteries.
No more Duracells

There is a balance of direct to reflected (ambient) sound to consider. Super close miking does not sound nateral,
especially for classical music. I have made many fine recordings using the ORTF and spaced pair (omni mikes) techniques. That said, try a good quality stereo mike up front on a stand but not too close.

The interior shot are a time capsule of and era about 100 years ago.
Most notable are the stove with hot water tank; and the early radio.
Thanks for sharing.

Mark,
A straight download as you describe is easy.
I probably will do this to my audio computer and convert those files to .WAV for CD.
That's easy in Sound Forge. I would prefer not to use a computer to listen to music:)

Hi Mark,

That looks like a great resource.

I'm very old school. I still use CDs and work with LPs to transfer and restore them to digital.
I've worked, along with being a professional symphony musician, as a recording engineer (on-location) for 25 years. The file format is always .WAV
I might need some information on how to download the mp3 files. I'm a Windows PC user.
I tried to do this once and put I-Tunes on the computer and I-Tunes changed ALL the .WAV files to I-Tunes format. That meant I couldn't do my editing work. Thankfully, uninstalling I-Tunes fixed the problem and all the files reverted back to .WAV
That said, once I have them on my hard drive as mp3 files,
there are no problems working with them as long as my WAV files remain WAV files:)

Fred
