I am backed up through icloud my ipad has over 1300 photos on it most of them raw. icloud does not protect me from software glitches nor internet crashing. At your recommendation I looked at Carbonite but decided to go on the cheap. My largest photo investment is my ipad, as is I consider myself spoiled my mother took lovely photos with a box camera. You make a good point with fire and other natural disasters which I need to consider. thank you

AND, your not backed up to the Apple Cloud thru ITunes? Good grief, when I bought my iPad 3 years ago that was offered when I signed up. Yes, I have a IXpand drive, but I only use to move files from one device to another. It would work for backup storage. In addition, I back up through Carbonite. Somehow, I have a warm feeling knowing my files and pictures are backed up off site in case of fire or such catastrophe.

All my processing is done on an ipad and I’ve been advised to look for a backup incase of a software glitch.
Has anyone had any experience with SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive.

I just came to understand your remark by attending an apple class. I am using PHOTOS and pp with pixelmator and afterlight. Now I need to find a good ipad storage app.

I didn’t realize a distinction I’m working with an ipad air and a newer 6th generation I thought it was all iphoto.

Maybe you mean’t “Photos”, the replacement for iPhoto. I find Photos has some surprisingly good editing features.

The editing I have done is very basic I will start with iphoto and use pixelmator and afterlight to finish. If I need more I do have access to a mac and photoshop. My main thrust is learning how to preserve my images in there raw state, I am not at all comfortable with iphoto. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

You do not say what software you used to create the images you posted. But most modern digital retouching softwares do not touch the raw file. They keep a list of changes made, and when you re-open the image they apply those changes to the image you see on the screen.

I love my iPad Pro and it is great hardware but it is seriously hobbled by the iOS operating system. If you are serious about digital imaging you need to buy a computer. I use a MacBookPro running OSX Mojave, and a Wide Gammit monitor for my editing and retouching, and I store my images on an external hard drive that is backed up and the MacBookPro is also backed up via a TimeCapsule drive. OSX is far far more powerful than iOS in it's capability and the options for external storage and backup.

If you are serious about your digital images, I recommend that you give this some thought. Technology seems daunting. Technology does require some time to learn, but the payback is the computer can relieve you of the mundane stuff, and free you to focus more on the art of photography.

You can back up (paid) with any number of services. My iPad is backed up to the apple cloud which is accessed through I Tunes app (pay for more storage than 5GB) and Carbonite. There are a bunch Back up storage companies and all allow access to you files. You have to got to their site, set up an account and list the info required to access your device. The first back up takes a fair amount of time, but after that it is incremental and you will not even know it is going on. I think “I Drive”lets you back up 5 devices for one yearly fee.
I use PS Express (Photo Shop) for editing on my iPad along with PS Fix It. PS express is pretty darn good and they are both free at the App Store.
If you are choked for storage get a USB storage drive with a lightning connector (SanDisc I Drive) (Amazon) and dump photos to that.
Organization - create different categories in your photo library. It will not change “all photos”, but makes it a whole lot faster to find a photo.

I probably still have chemical stains on my hands from years past, but just started in digital this past year but am very slow to pick up the terminology so although I have been watching a while I have been very slow to jump in. Technology is a challenge to me, just creating this post is a leap, and I need a lot of help.
I do not have a computer my main processing is done on two ipads. Right now my focus is on straightening
out my processing and storage, I would like a backup storage to the ipad an app that works on the ipad but
does not tamper with my raw pics in processing or transmission, any help would be greatly appreciated.
