Thanks Everyone! The only editing program I have is ViewNX 2 (the one that came with my nikon). I can't do very much with it.....
I usually adjust shadow protection, sharpness, & color booster. Meh.....

The only staged photo is the last one. So obvious. lol. We had extra balloons just in case they were needed. So we did it again.

lol Mike. Thanks for all the tips. I ended up doing the wrong thing. I shot in manual mode. When I shot in Shutter mode it looked dark. I tried so many different ISO's & nothing looked good. I couldn't get sport mode right either. The pictures look so different than any other pictures I've taken. They look grainy & out of focus to me. I am not happy at all. I'm not sure if it's because I was in RAW + JPEG mode or what! Anyway, there are a few that they like but I am so disappointed in the pictures! Here are a few. Critiques, criticisms etc are WELCOME!

also I have JPEG basic, normal, & fine settings. Then I have NEF(RAW)+JPEG FINE,NEF(RAW)+JPEG normal & NEF(RAW)+JPEG basic. Should I shoot in RAW + JPEG fine?

I have been asked by a very close friend to take pictures of her & her husband opening a box with baloons in it tonight to reveal the sex of their first unborn child. The balloons will be either blue or pink depending on what the sonogram results were earlier today. They will be unaware of sex so when the balloons come out of the box they will find out what they're having. It will be evening time before sunset on the beach. I have a Nikon D5100. Still learning my camera. I do have a tripod. Also remote but have never used it. What settings? Ideas? Tips? Any help is much appreciated!

Going to be going to "The Top Of The World" tonight. A spot high up in the mountains where you can see the whole city...... lights and all. Wondering what settings to try on my Nikon D5100. It will be dark outside. I should have my flash off yes?
