Because the restaurant is making more profit, but the waiter is still being paid below minimum wage.

By the way, it's to the advantage of waiters to receive tips in cash. That way, management has no idea how much they received above their salary.

I got a free grocery delivery from the supermarket (something new), and the driver was glad to receive a $5.00 tip in cash. The store added a $7.12 tip, but when would he receive that? The store would also report it as income. Driving into town to pick up an order the store put together for me would take over an hour and cost me about $3.50 in gas. This is much better all around. I don't drive my car and burn gas, and two people get a job - the one who puts my order together and the driver who delivers it.

I agree. It's a tax advantage for the waitstaff to receive cash tips. While one is supposed to report those tips, few actually do. Tips written in on CC payments are reported by management. Btw, most waitstaff share their tips w/kitchen staff. Everyone wins. Well, maybe not the customer.

Amazon is frequently a topic for discussion on this forum and generally not viewed kindly, with many better options from other companies. I have always like using Amazon because generally their prices are reasonable, and they literally carry everything, and I've always had good experiences dealing with their customer service. But I recently made a terrible decision on a purchase from Amazon and feared the worst.

I have breathing issues which affect how far and fast I can walk. I can get almost anywhere I wish but at a pace with many delays to catch my breath. I've been on supplemental O2 for 3 years. To be able to get to places and see things that have generally been realistically beyond reach, I bought an electric mobility scooter for $650 total including $60 for shipping from a third-party seller. It's a small, light-weight vehicle which can be carried in the back of your car and used both indoors and out and is capable of going on most flat surfaces and moderate hills. I purchased one from a company called E Wheels. When I assembled it (fairly simple) it beeped and did not work. There are 3 main separable components, front control/wheels, rear wheels/motor and battery. An on-line video indicated this was because there was a problem in the front, controls section.

When I tried to contact the company, I got a recorded message to leave a message and they would call me back. Over the next week, I called at least 50 times with no response. I complained to Amazon and they tried to call them with the same outcome. They communicated with them via emails. By that time I wanted to return the scooter and have nothing further to do with them. I checked with Fed Ex and it would cost me $481 to send it back. Amazon requested that the pay for the seller par for the return of the scooter and refund my money. The company did not respond. I'm thinking I'm out $650 and have nothing to show for it. To my surprise, Amazon refunded me the full amount and told me to keep the scooter and I could do anything I wanted with it. I never expected they would refund that kind of money out of their own pockets to make an issue right with their customer.

That's why I titled this piece, Amazon - a Stand-Up Company!

I agree w/you on Amazon standing up for their customers. While I haven't had anything so expensive need to be returned, they have never given me a hassle any time something wasn't right w/an order. I'm definitely a fan.

I’d start with a fresh set of inks if you haven’t used it for 8 months.

How are you managing the color - the computer’s OS drivers or your post processing ap? Make sure you’re not using both. And if you’re using the OS drivers, make sure the correct driver is installed and up to date and setting are correct. To test, you can enable your processing ap’s color management and disable the OS’. Also, when you changed the computer, did you recalibrate the monitor/video card? Monitor calibration, using your post processing’s color management (only) and soft proofing are key to getting your prints to match what you see on the monitor.

Btw, when you changed computers, did you reinstall the correct Canon driver/application package rather than using a generic Windows/Mac driver?. If you’re running Windows 11, last I looked (which has been awhile), there was no Win11 driver for the 9000 mkII from Canon, but the win 10 driver worked fine when installed on a new Win 11 machine.

When I installed the printer onto the new computer I used the "set-up" CD that came w/the printer. The monitor shows my image perfectly. So I think I'm good on the monitor. As for the video card, not sure how to do that. Not sure how to change or adjust the processing ap either. I'm a dummy when it comes to computers. Am thinking of uninstalling the printer then try re-installing it to see if that helps. Many thanks for your input. Oh, w/all the cleaning & nozzle checks, most of the inks were depleted so are now new for the most part.

Guessing sometrhing in the ink seprates over time. He has a facebook page where I understand there is a lot of helpful printing/printers knoweledge if you get what you need here.

I'll try that & check out his page. Thanks.

Not enough info to be helpful. But the only 'New Thing" in the chain is the computer.
When you do the Nozzle check after all the cleaning , What does it say? If it says that you still have clogs, thats the problem. If it says No clogs there should be an ability to print a "Test Print" Do that.
BTW there are many free test prints available, having one that you always use allows direct comparison over time.
If that stuff is good it is probably the computer where settings got changed in the change over from the old one.
Since you don't use Canon inks, see if Ink Farm has Tech support to walk you through all settings.
It is a bad Idea to leave any printer idle for 8 months Just making a print at Least once a month can save headaches (every other week is better) I believe your printer has a replaceable print head, but check everything else first. Lets hope it is software.

All the test prints came out fine, no clogs. I'm going to remove the printer from the computer & try to re-install it. Might break down & contact Canon Tech support. Ugh! Thanks for your response.

I'm getting faded colors and a lack of detail when printing on my Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II. I've done nozzle check, cleaning 3X, deep cleaning, and roller cleaning all with no improvement. I am working with "new" computer so am not sure if that would have any effect. Have not printed any photos in about 8 months so maybe the inks aren't fresh??? Have been using after-market inks (Ink Farm) rather than the pricey Canon inks. Looking for some ideas please.

Spacey...you totally missed the point. You are chiming in trying to fix a problem that occurred 9 years ago. By now, nobody cares if he figured it out or not.

Actually, I have a CURRENT problem. Maybe I'm in the wrong place. My Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II has started producing faded prints, lacking in detail. Tried nozzle check, cleaning 3X, deep cleaning. No luck. I did get a "new" computer recently. Any ideas?

I don't know about his jets but I might try the alcohol fix. Printer has been idle for about 8 months. Or, driver needs updating. Looking for ideas.

I have a problem with prints coming out faded & lacking in detail. Have cleaned, deep cleaned, nozzle checked, roller cleaned, replaced "almost empty" ink tanks & still no difference.

Just an idea, will "after-market" inks give these results? Ink Farm has been great for me so far but wondering if they expire after a long period of non-use.

And mark "PHOTOGRAPH - DO NOT BEND".

Yes , modern electronics are smart and capable but they haven't been taught to read customers hand written notes and advisories on the outside of parcels.
The post office has a service for fragile items and a special label for such, but it is an extra cost service.
Writing "Fragile - Handle With Care" on the package doesn't get you anywhere with any of the shipping companies modern electronic sorting equipment.
When UPS (yes the brown trucks) was a young company, I worked for them as a sorter/handler. It's amazing they survived, "Fragile" meant throw it harder and farther!

I've often suspected that marking something "Fragile" might trigger a psycho worker. Didn't know it was actually a thing.

Exactly! The "doom & gloomers" give too much credit to the machines themselves. They're envisioning situations where "Hal" will take over the world. AI is a tool nothing more. Of course, the tool could be misused in the wrong hands, but that's true for any tool, right? I'm pretty excited about it. Bring it on.
