Me neither, and having been born and raised on the southside, I was really eager to see them!

MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!

Wow, that REALLY brings back memories! Having been born in 1944, that's the fire truck I grew-up with!

I have to shoot from a wheelchair and use the double to prevent dropping a camera or lens. I have a range of 18mm to 300mm at my finger tips without having to change a lens.

Took the course in 1989 when it was film. My trusty Olympus OM-10 and I shot up a lot of film, and started to get 2 or 3 photographs out of a roll of 24! Joined a photography club and actually had some understanding as to what the real shooters were talking about!

Now if they held thier quality when transitioning from film to digital, go for it! It was well worth the cost.

Excellent refresher course, and I do need to be reminded about those relationships! Never thought about how film locked me in to the same speed for 24 to 36 photo's!

A really fantastic photographer told me years ago, "First you have to capture the photograph!". This proves he was absolutely correct, The PP of #2 makes it a "saleable print"!!

An easy fix, but both horizons are tipped. The purple silhouettes are very nice.

Agree, they are tipped/not horizontal at all. Shot #1 doesn't have any interest other than the clouds lit by the sun. Shot #2 has the boats in addition to the purple coloring. It's a great example of what is lacking in #1.

The beauty of digital vs film is you can see what you "captured" right away. So shoot a lot and ask for constructive help, The only "dumb question" is the one not asked!

Don't do it!!!!!!

I have shot weddings and you cannot believe how much work they are before, during and after. You are the grandmother. Enjoy the day, the events, the family, the friends, and, yes, your new in-laws. Those will be your real memories.

Now for the gruesome news. What if something goes wrong? Even the best wedding photographers have days they regret. Do you want to be remembered for the screw up? When your greatgrandchildren ask where are the wedding pictures, which crack in the floor do you want to disappear through? And what will you wear? As a working photographer, I am not sure you can wear the same clothes as the grandmother of the groom.

Finally, this is not the time for on-the-job training. Weddings are an art in themselves. Portraiture can be extremely demanding with restless kids running around, an anxious bride, and harried mothers hoping everything goes right. And then, what about pictures with grandma in them?

Enjoy the day. Take your camera and take what you want when you want. You will get pictures no pro can get.
Don't do it!!!!!! br br I have shot weddings and ... (show quote)

Plus 100! Invite other family members to share the cost, BUT DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF!!!

This place is absolutely loaded with excellent info and people who want to help out!

Paid $84 for a Cool Pics last year to give the wife so I don't agree that it is cheap. Just "Inexpensive" when compared to a DSLR.

Sent a Nikkor lens to them a couple years ago and had no complaints. A little slow but not too bad.

This was shot a couple years ago. Done with a point and shoot.

Two things that would have improved the picture:
1. Shoot in the vertical in order to lose the "dead" area's to either side, and

2. Move the bud that runs right up the front of the rose by either changing your position or using some thread to "pull" it over to the side.

I like them, I agree with comments on #2, plus you might sharpen a tiny bit.
I think the idea of your son's picture with the reflection is great, but would love to see his whole reflection, Just me;)
Maybe backing up and then cropping to include the whole reflection. Also, if you use Photoshop or some other software, you could lighten him so his details would be a little more noticable. would you like me to give it a try. however, I still think the shot is great. Love it!

On the baby shot - try laying on the ground and shooting at his eye level...you will be surprised. just a hint.

Let me just add, try for a level horizon. Not an easy task when your concentration is on catching him in mid air!
