Hunting from sign posts but keeping eye on me

Beautiful shots. Kestrals usually don't sit still for too long.

Wonderful shots. We had some fly north over our house the other day. Spring is coming. :D:D

Was at our local lake yesterday afternoon to see what was available to photograph. We’ve had several days of 50+ degrees temps to the point that grass was starting to green up! So I guess the Great Blue Herons were thinking its time to refurbish the nest and get busy... Today however the big storm is rolling in with below zero temps and high winds which should put a halt to everything except survival! Here’s the photo (Nikon D500, Nikkor 500mm pf, 1.4TC)

Excellent! Thanks for sharing.

Had some time to kill before a movie yesterday and was lucky enough to find this female American Kestrel on a wire surveying an (as yet) undeveloped parcel of land in Georgetown. She graced me with her presence for about 45 minutes!

This owl is a part of the Raptor Free Flight at the Sonoran Desert Museum. These birds could fly away and never come back, but they stay!

Again, I wish I could say I found this guy in the wild and got these photos. However, with that said it was not at all easy to get these photos. There is a large group of people. The snags they fly to are on both sides of where you stand. They were very, very strict about the rules. You are not to move, they said pretend your feet are roots of a tree.... they pointed to us with large lenses and told us it can not go above our head. So, imagine trying to get photos of birds with lots of heads around, not moving your feet and not knowing where they may go next. If I were to go back I would have a better feel for where to be, and what to watch for etc. They were very strict and a guy near me with a larger lens was told off more than once that it went above his head and he moved to much....

I'm trying to learn birds and BIF and the Canon R5 with its eye tracking. I am reasonably happy with these considering the challenges to get them! I will have another set as once again, I can't narrow down photos....
Any bird people with advice besides find the in the wild is appreciated!

Hope you enjoy! Beth The owl was my favorite

Hi hogs!
I'm honored to have three of my five submitted images accepted for the Northwestern Mutual Gallery Exhibition at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. Students in the creative writing class will be writing poetry for the accepted images which will be broadcast through the exhibit. Very cool:)

Now to build some image inventory with the Canon. These are from the Olympus M1 Mkiii and the previously owned Nikon Z7. Not that it matters, but I've had people give me grief about the Olympus and fact of the matter is, it's an outstanding piece of kit. I love each of my kits in its own way, as they are just tools..... tools that make photography so much fun (besides getting out with friends at sunrise and sipping coffee).

Here are my three images.

I caught these two playing in the water like two tiny sparrows. I have never seen this before, it was very cool. They were having so much fun.

How do I make the splashing water look crisper?

Ok, here I go again just liking the whole evening as the sunset changed! I thought it was over, then the sun made it's way through the crack in the clouds low on the horizon and the whole sky lit up!

Always open to thoughts and suggestions.

Shot from Boundary Bay BC, google maps says the mountain is 93 km (58 miles) away from where I stood for this shot. A big mountain.
Also learned lately that Bald Eagles are sea eagles.

Excellent shots. The eagle is spectacular.

Ran across these barns last fall when I was on vacation. All photos taken with a Nikon D850 with a Tamron F2.8 24 to 70 mm zoom. That is my walk-around lens. Let me know your comments. I can take some heat. Enjoy!

I love old barns. And I have only seen one brick one and never a brick silo. Well caught.
