MM is the focal length of the lens, the smaller the number the wider angle the lens is, the larger the number the longer the lens and that is a telephoto lens.
The big differance between lets say a $600.00 lens and the same lens for $1200.00 is that the expensive lens will probably give you a larger lens opening by one or two fstops. This will allow you to shoot in lower light and can be used to get a shallower depth of field. Depth of field is the area of acceptable sharpness.
At the other end of the scale the larger number fstop will give you a much longer depth of field, but you get this with a trade off, you need more light, so it will mean using a slower shutter speed.
Don't give up on the pen, I was frustrated at first but kept at it, it's far superior to the mouse.

It's a shame that we have to carry weapons to protect ourselves, but since we do, we want them to be available to us and this is where it is necessary to take it to a political level, there are politicians all over this great country that don't want us to protect ourselves and as far as I'm concerned as long as I need to protect myself, I need to speak out against those politicians. If we don't it won't be safe in tha cemetary, or in the woods or out shooting that old barn.

In every area of the US there are differant ways of pronouncing words, here in the midwest, they can't seem to pronounce an O, for instance when referring to God, they pronounce it Gaad, they don't stop at a stop sign, they staap at a stop sign. There is a town in Ma just outside of Boston called Medford, the long time locals call it Mefford.
How many people and more than likely you, pronounce February and Wednesday correctly.
All of these are subtle so as much as they drive some of us crazy we have to get used to it.
