While traveling, I found a Canon EW-77B lens hood for the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM (and possibly others). List price is $70 plus tax/shipping and this one appears near new. This is a pretty pricey hood or I would not waste time on it.

If yours is missing and where you lost it matches my found location, I will send it to you for $10. I will only respond to claims made by PM.

After 1/31 if no plausible claimant has come forward, I will ship for $10 to the first person who can PM me the image of a $20 charitable (non-political) contribution.

I get between 30-70% more selling myself on ebay. I like to keep the extra money in MY pocket, not there's.

I believe most of us share your preference re: where $$ get pocketed! When buying or selling I typically check the recent eBay SOLD (not completed) history for same/similar items. That is probably as close to "market" as I can get.

My "process" was/is: used D5600 bodies (there were about 10 on eBay) sold from $385 to $435, just about all with free shipping. Assuming $15-20 for shipping, almost 15% to eBay and about 3% to PayPal or similar, it is hard to imagine the seller netting more than $315-$350. I tried UUH classifieds for a while, but no interest. MPB quickly beat any likely eBay return and also my UHH ask.

I offer this not as a debate but more as illustration of one experience. Clearly it pays to shop around when buying or selling. One of many factors possibly influencing the MPB offer might have been the fact that they had no used D5600s in their inventory whereas other used resellers had a few each., However, no one else offered less than $325, all quick and hassle free.

IMHO, the market (and prices) for even well cared for current DSLR products, both bodies and lenses, continues to decline fairly rapidly. No doubt it will stabilize at some point, but prices certainly have not bottomed. Many of us (myself included) are aging out of this hobby/profession and there appears to be a shortage of newcomers. At the same time the sharing of pics and videos has exploded. Simple explanation - smart cellphones. The migration to mirrorless is another undeniable factor. All of this has been discussed many times here on UHH and elsewhere.

This is not a functionality or capability issue. I find my DSLR a very capable and useful tool that certainly exceeds my skills as a photographer. This is about declining demand, substitute products and perceived technical obsolescence at work. If you are happy with your DSLR gear, then enjoy! If you either want or have to sell and wish to maximize your return, then the sooner the better.

Apologies to all for hijacking my own thread!

After trying to sell a current model Nikon DSLR here on UHH and refusing to use either eBay or Craigslist, I requested quotes from several large resellers. All replied quickly.

I ended up picking MPB for simplicity, speed and price (actually all similar $$). MPB turned the entire transaction around very quickly and even increased their payment to me to 1) reflect condition better than what I claimed plus 2) a few extras I had included.

None of that was expected, but is certainly appreciated!

Hello and thank you for the interest.

The 16-80 was sold about an hour ago. Sorry I was unable to update the posting. However, I am happy to share some thoughts.

More knowledgeable sources than I can provide comparative details and test results. The 16-80 is definitely faster and that is very helpful in lower light. I had an 18-140 and found that a very good lens, but also slows down at the longer focal lengths. My experience with the 16-80 was indoors, either handheld with VR or on a tripod with VR off. I was always happy with the image quality.

Best of luck finding yours!

I would add Rodenstock HR Digital to the short list of highest quality filters.
