Awesome shots! I'm in Maggie Valley, but it's too cold for me to venture up there! It's wonderful to be able to view it through your camera's eye, though. Thank you for sharing! Was there very much ice on 276 going up?

Great shots! Spoonbill appears to be healthy and compensating quite well.

Excellent idea! I'm a sucker for Orchids, particularly the Ladies Slippers variety! So, #2 really appeals to me. It's so sharp it appears to jump out of the frame! I saw a similar one at a Lowe's in Rockledge/Cocoa, FL, in Dec. I purchased the green/white one. All are great shots! Thanks for sharing with us!

You made the best of a less then optimal situation! Still captured some Roseate Spoonbills! I was there the week before Christmas, and water levels were high, even then, but still open. Thanks for sharing with us!

Excellent animal portraits! Very sharp detail. Thanks for sharing your safari photos, as many if us can only travel far distances vicariously through them!

What a privilege to see and photograph this sweet little bird that seemed to enjoy her interaction with "hoomans"! You did a great job!

I have added to a technical belt a couple of carpenter's leather pouches/pockets from Lowe's. They hold a multitude of different items from lenses to flash units to water bottles, and anything else you can think of to stash in them. They are tough enough to offer protection to sensitive equipment. One could always add small foam pads for extra cushioning. Might not work for everyone, but has been helpful to me. I also use carpenter's knee pads when I'm going to be crawling around on the ground or hard surfaces. Of course, appearances must not matter very much to one to be able to pull this off! Comfort is just more important to me than apoearance when shooting nature. Happy shooting!

The Wildflower Pilgrimage in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the second week in April. Lots of crowds, but the week before has lots of flowers already blooming, and is much less crowded. I live here, and this is my "photo playground" with an ever changing sequence of flower after different flower from late March through October. Also, a lot of wildlife, including Elk, Bear, Whitetail Deer, Fox, smaller mammals and songbirds. Occasional Great Blue Herons also sighted, lots of Wild Turkeys. Landscspe opportunities are awesome!
