Again I may in the minority and some may scoff but I am more than satisfied with the jpg's my D 850 produces. I have printed up to 13x19 with no problems. Although I am retired I don't want to spend all my time tweaking my pics to what I think they should be. I might lighten some shadows or minor PP but all that major work after taking the picture is not for me.

When I'm in the minority I get this free and easy feeling, just like when I know I'm doing the right thing!!

Thanks Keith. Hope you are having a good trip

So far, so good! Just moved over to Albuquerque for now. Cooler and a brother and sister here.

Cute, but, Yikes! Really noisy! Did you have to use a really high ISO in the shade?

Very, very nice! My first DSLR was a D200. Love the color rendition from that camera!

I recently went on a deliberate landscape "shoot" with the intention of generating a large print on the order of 24x30. I often shoot both jpeg and RAW which gives me an opportunity to review in jpeg and then PP a RAW image. On this occasion when I compared the in-camera jpeg images with the best I could do post processing the RAW file, I could not do much better than the jpeg produced by my D850. Have any of you experienced this outcome?

I'm one of those Neanderthals that shoots jpeg only. Yes, with a D850!!! And have had NO regrets with my results. I have had canvas prints up to 24X30 made from my lowly jpegs that are spectacular! And that's not just my opinion. I've said before, in these hallowed UHH pages, that I'm a photographer. NOT a computer graphics bubba. And always will be!

"A" and "C" are the exact same photo with different cropping. "B" and "D" are the same exact photo with different cropping. Come on! The ones with space for the subject to move into will ALWAYS win!!

DSLRs a superb system of systems with which to photograph images. I know for certain that DSLRs take photographs every bit as good as any mirrorless camera. I don’t give a hoot what others say! If you know what you are doing, the DSLRs will deliver the shots, and they will do so for less! No rolling shutter, better low-light visibility through the viewfinder. While mirrorless cameras may give you ”what you see is what you get,” in the view finder or the LCD, as I said before, if you know what you are doing, mirrorless isn’t any better!

There is such a thing as “good enough!” DSLRs are more than “good enough!” Don’t fall for the hype!

I used the RBs for studio work and the 645s for weddings and locations. RBs on tripod, always. A beast to handhold, but I never noticed an issue with the 645s. Either had gotten used to the sound, or perhaps slightly deaf. Very likely both.

Both systems served me well. Never had any reliability problems and the lenses (all but the 80mm f/1.9 which was slightly soft at wider apertures) were excellent. Certainly not Hasselblad or Leica quality, but nowhere near the cost, and I never had any complaints about "fuzzy pics." At least when I did my part and focused sharply. Those, nobody saw but me and the printer at the lab.

Yeah, I used mine almost exclusively for landscapes on a tripod. Transparencies. A dozen of them on a light box were magical!!
And, no, never had any heartburn with noise with the M645. But it was definitely there!

What an under-rated camera that was.

If you want an audible slap, actually more a clunk, try a Bronica S2 or S2a. You can almost feel it jump in your hand when shutter fires and mirror retracts.

Or a medium format Mamiya 645!

Thanks, Chief. Hey, I am almost 83. I am lucky to have any reflexes at all. LOL.

Well, you've got me beat by a few, so congratulations on still having a heart beat! Yeah, I feel good all day when my reflexes work more or less how they are supposed to!

I use a D850 and a D500. And love them both. But...that D850 sounds like I'm kicking a trash can down the road every time I release the shutter! The D500 has a soft, quiet click, click that I love! I'm not trading either one in on mirrorless or anything else!
