Try the excellent SofortBild. This is freeware, although a donation is appreciated if you like and use the software. I had no hesitation in donating as I found this program more to my liking than the very expensive Nikon Camera Control program, which now lies unused on my Mac. You can find Sofortbild here -
http://www.sofortbildapp.com/

What I like about Sofortbild is the ability to live preview which is available with the D7000. Since I do a lot of macro work this live preview on a big screen has resulted in an order of magnitude improvement in the quality of the pictures I am taking.

If you have LightRoom 3 there is a tethered facility available, although it is mostly just the ability to remote control the shutter release.

Riverman: It's just a matter of semantics really. What it actually says is ... 'Photos can be submitted starting now' ..... so you can see where the confusion lies. I read that to mean that you can start submitting them now, that is to say, the competition is now open.

I have no problem with the rules, just thought I would point it out for future events. Of course it could just be that I am as dumb as a stick. (I thought I would get that in to save everyone else the bother) :-)

Cheers,
Chris

OK, first of all I am new to this group so I may have missed something. If so my appologies.

Like several other people I submitted a picture to the contest but had it deleted, I am assuming because it was not taken after the contest started as had a lot of other pictures according to this thread.

My problem is that when I re-read the rules I didn't see anything that said it had to be taken after a particular date, only that it must not be from the archive but rather that it is a 'new' picture. The one I submitted was taken about a month ago and is not in my archive (I haven't uploaded any yet, just joined the group a few days ago.)

I was wondering what I had missed re the rules. Is there another page with competition rules on? If so, perhaps for the benefit of newbies like myself it could be made more obvious.

Also, please note this is not a complaint or a whine. Rules are rules and I am ok with that. Just wanted to point out that if you are new to a group you may not understand all of the 'unwritten rules' that the more established members take for granted.

Regards,
Chris

Bought the Nikon D7000 and I can honestly say that I have never been more delighted with a purchase in my life. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

I also have a D70 and a D200 so I have a fair investment in Nikon lenses etc. so I didn't look at any other makes, so I can't compare, but from a usage point of view the results far exceed my expectations.

The pictures are unbelievable in quality and clarity and the camera is a dream to use. I particularly like the Live View facility as I often do a lot of macro work with the bellows so the ability to blow up the image on the rear view finder makes getting the focus spot-on a snap.

If you have a D70 then you can just buy the D7000 body and transfer your lenses over.

Hope this helps.

Chris
