I originally hoped the eagle would react to the heron flying overhead. He didn't. But his reflection made a perfect circle so I thought it still made it an interesting photo, sort of.

This is a beautiful image. I've been experimenting with this type of photo since the lockdown. It's a lot of fun. If you're looking for more ideas on the subject, go to YouTube and check out Lee Hall. He is superb when it comes to this type of photography and goes into great detail on how he makes the shot.

Thank you. My wife thought the same thing but we've never seen them in this area before. Looks like I lost the bet.

Trying to identify these two. I'm wondering if it's a male and female of the same species.

This little guy was doing great until his turtle decided to make a slight adjustment and over he went. But, like all good cowboys, when your horse throws ya you just dust yourself off and get right back in the saddle.

#1 and #5 are looking good. A very interesting subject, sergo!

On #5 you can try to crop off the right part of a bright light - not doing anything but taking the attention from the main subject.
I probably would also try to increase the contrast on #1 and #5 that would make the tree trunks - the main subject to speak.
Good luck!
Cheers!

Thanks Paul,
I took your advice. Cropped it and increased contrast. I think it does look better.
Thanks for the suggestion.

May 18th is the 40th anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. While most people are familiar with the spectacular views from the visitor center, there are other parts of the mountain that didn't receive the full head-on force of the blast but can be just as impressive. These are the standing dead trees that cover the other side of the mountain.

Massive amounts of mud and debrs slid down the mountain into Spirit lake leaving thousands of floating logs.

I borrowed this title from a book I'm reading about Billy The Kid and Pat Garrett By Mark Lee Gardner and I have been looking for a photo to go with it. I made this picture about 10 years ago in Wyoming and always thought it was a fun photo. I think it matches the title pretty well.

Mmmmm, so where or where not, does this go from photography to digital art?
Is it still photography ??
Are you a photographer or a digital artist ??
Just wondering this all out ??

I guess I'm not that deep Steve. I'm just trying to make a pretty picture to hang on my wall. I think the processing tools we have today just make it that much more fun.
By the way, I noticed you're from Waterville, I lived in Franconia for 12 years. I met my wife there and taught skiing at Cannon for a few years. I'm in Washington state now but I still miss New Hampshire.

Cheers
