You don't need permission from me to add to this topic or you can start a new one. I would just like to see some pictures that I should have taken when I was there.

I was referring to permission from the proprietor. ;)

Supposedly, a Solid State Drive would be better since there are no moving parts. But I am a cranky old coot who refuses to change. The best I have doe is to place all my photos ONLY, on an external 2TB hard drive. I think that placing them on a computer Hard Drive is too susceptible to loss from hackers, glitches, power outages, etc. Placing photographs on the internal drive will take up space too.

Did I mention Im a cranky old coot?

If you don’t then replicate them to ANOTHER drive (hard drive, ssd, cloud, whatever, but SOMETHING else!!!), they will be lost just as permanently when that drive fails...

I keep all my photos on a primary online hard drive, which is replicated to two additional online drives hourly (the software is intelligent - if there is nothing changed, nothing gets written). I have an offline drive that I do not store at home that I replicate after every significant event I want to insure is backed up (with a weekly reminder on my calendar, just to be sure). I ALSO backup everything to the cloud (Backblaze) continuously.

Have I mentioned that *I* am a cranky old coot? ;)

If you go, would you try to take photos and post them here? Thanks.

That sounds like a plan (with permission, of course!).

I own a Fuji X100F. I bought it almost as a lark, but I absolutely love it. It has caused me to use my Nikons & Sony less and less. I am seriously thinking about unloading all of my Nikon & Sony gear (Nikon D2X, D3200 & D810 with bunches of lenses & accessories, Sony RX100 Mk III) and going with the Fuji GFX50R.

Never thought about that as I'm presently using Edge. I'll have to try Explorer.

Use Windows Explorer. If you see the drives there, simply drag them on to the desktop to recreate the shortcuts.

If you launch Explorer, can you see them?

Your monitor is too bright. A previous poster indicated a quick fix, to adjust your screen brightness to match the prints you are getting. The poster before that indicated you need to calibrate your monitor. I would start with the quick fix and finish with a calibration.

How hard is it to switch it to "Auto" before handing it to someone else....

BBF works nicely in Auto on all 4 of my Nikons.

BassmanBruce is the winner: he sent me to a Google site that identifies it as a yellow-legged wasp. The photo on Google was spot-on.
We’ve never seen these around here before.

We have those here — my repellent works for them as well.

A new variety of critter has descended upon us. It is of the wasp/hornet variety, and it definitely stings. No one here can identify it. They are congregating around the porch and eaves of my daughter’s house.

It’s about an inch in length, and it’s all black except for a narrow yellow band sideways across its back. I couldn’t get one to land to get a photo.
I looked up wasps and hornets on the internet and couldn’t find anything that looks like it.

Anyone of you who are into flying insects have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
A new variety of critter has descended upon us. It... (show quote)

I use a natural repellent to keep them (numerous varieties of wasps) from nesting around my porch & eaves. In a 32 oz. sprayer I mix 5 drops of clove oil, 5 drops of geranium oil, 5 drops of lemongrass oil, and 10 drops of dish soap. If you spray them directly, it WILL kill them (the soap suffocates them), but they will abandon a nest and an area if you spray that around. I spray my porches about once a week. At 10’ x 40’ x 2 porches, I go through a whole bottle dousing the area. To me it smells pleasant. The wasps sure don’t like to be around it.

But I normally have my thumb depressing the BBF button at the same time I push the shutter button so obviously I don't want to touch the camera if its on the tripod and I'm using the remote shutter?

That’s the beauty of BBF — once you release the button, focus is fixed. You don’t need to hold it while the shutter is being pressed {unless you want continuous focus}.
