Photos from Iowa vs Indiana women’s basketball game in Iowa City. Iowa finished runner up to LSU in title game. Iowa features player of the year Caitlin Clark along with post player Monika Czinano, to form a formidable high/low post game. Very fun to watch.
Unfortunately I sat 20 rows up and could not bring in “professional camera. Used my Sony RX 10.

A greatest guitar players list that doesn’t have Joe Bonamassa on it isn’t worth the paper it is written on.

I saw this eagle fly to a tree with this fish. Tree was right next to walking trail. I walked over to see if I could get some shots of the eagle eating his catch. Once I approached he picked up his fish and flew away.

Stunning. You were very close. Wow

I had a lot of magnification but yeah I was about 50 60 feet on some. The eagle with the fish in the tree eating was about 75 yards so that is pretty heavily cropped.

Really terrific shots, MI! And my usual question is: How FAR from you were those majestic birds?

It varied. Anywhere from around 30 yards to 75 yards I would guess.

To me, this shot of a bald eagle makes it look like he’s grinning.

Correct enough. Although, the effective 700mm focal length is more accurate, as the crop factor doesn't change the level magnification, it just gives the same effective 700mm image over a smaller (denser) array of pixels. Within the confines of the cropped sensor's 3:2 aspect 'rectangle', the image is exactly the same as the full-frame version.

Thanks

Thanks for that.

One song I get a kick out of is "Diana," by Paul Anka. "I'm so young, and you're so old." Just what every woman wants to hear.

He wrote that song about his babysitter. That is why the wording.

The eagle look great! But, to be clear, this is a 500mm focal length. Everything from the extender is 'magnification' of the 500mm focal length image to an equivalent focal length of 700mm, when magnified (expanded) over the sensor. Everything from the cropped sensor is an equivalent field of view. If you'd had an actually 1120mm lens, imagine how hard it would be to find and track a moving subject with such a lens. Even with a superior EOS R7 mirrorless wonder.

I actually meant to say 1120 mm equivalent but in my haste to post I didn’t put that in. So is 1120 mm equivalent correct to say?

I took my new R7 with EF 500 mm f/4 and attached my 1.4ext. I handheld it and shot some photos of eagles at Sunset Marina in Rock Island, Illinois. I was surprised how well some came out. Missed some shots because I couldn’t find them in viewfinder.
