Despite dark skies and drizzle on our first day outside Mobile, the rain slacked up in time for our visit to Bellingrath Gardens. We just missed the peak of azalea blooms, but one could easily see how magnificent the gardens would be had we been a week earlier. If you should plan a visit, the 2nd or 3rd week in March is best for peak color. We were there the 4th week.

I think one step above O-scale. This is at Fernwood Botanical Gardens outside of Niles, Michigan. They actually hired a firm who goes around the country building these to suit each particular environment. Being close to South Bend, IN, this setup contains building seen on the Notre Dame Campus, such as the famous Golden Dome on the Administration Building. It is a wonder to behold!

Amazing detail and captures

Here are a few of my favorite shots from this past week.

1. Took a hike along Sunday Creek, quite a few waterfalls along this creek but it's STEEP!
2. Went fishing on Hungry Horse Reservoir for trout, caught quite a few cutthroat and bull trout
3. Took a hike in the Big Creek Drainage looking for moose horns, didn't find any horns but did find a young Bull Moose

Been a fun busy week and it's only Wednesday!

Nice set Cindy

Was looking out my right car window, and I heard a loud honk-ish sound from the left. Two sandhills were about twenty feet away. My lens was all the way down to the low end, so I did not get a lot of leg in these shots

Very well done Joe

My long time travel partner invited me to come visit his home state of Mississippi and search out some photo ops along the Gulf Coast, from Gulf Port over to Mobile. These two images were a couple of favorites, and were captured with my Galaxy S24+ (with gentle tweaks in LR) and not the cameras I had lugged around with me.

These road and train bridges are the connectors between Biloxi snd Ocean Springs.

Nice captures Diane

We will be out of touch for the next couple of weeks with travel to and from Hilton Head Island. I will not be staying in touch, but I hope to catch up when I return. I hope that the birds are plenty and the weather is good.

Therefore, if you do not hear from me starting tomorrow, it is not a snub.

Have a fun and safe trip Mike. Your BIF are wonderful.

Of course Miles Davis', "Kind of Blue", probably cannot be topped. However, I like this Baker album as much and even more. If you are a Chet Baker fan, save this one!!!

A true classic - https://youtu.be/yCUyYGyxLks

Enjoy,
Mark
