That did it. That item in the Set Up Menu had the settings for another lens. When I added the info for the f/1.2 lens, the proper values appeared on the camera as the aperture ring was turned.
Does this imply that this is an AI rather than AIS lens?

I have purchased a Nikon 50mm f/1.2 Ais manual lens and when set wide open on my D750, the aperture reading on the camera shows 1.4. Changing the aperture to 2.0 and smaller, they seem to match up correctly. I can see the iris move with each shift of the aperture ring including the three stops between 2.0 and 1.2. Any explanation for the apparent discrepancy?
