WOW Regis, I have been a fan of your Eagle photos for some time, In fact as you may recall you allowed me to use one on one of my ham radio QSL cards.
But this photo tops the Bald Eagles, CONGRATULATIONS!

That is not a Blue Macaw....it is a Hyacinth Macaw and they are an endangered species. Often referred to as the "gentle giant"
The Blue and Gold is smaller. The Hyacinth is the largest of the Macaws

Avoid them like the plague....They use vendors like 42/47th camera. I ordered an item once and it was bait and switch. It may be OK for some items but NOT camera gear.

Walking on RR tracks can be fatal! Also it is trespassing
Thanks MT Shooter......
Is there a long answer??
I guess I could sign also as "Olympic Shooter" :-)
For the Canon fans out there the new T7i seems to be slightly improved over the T6i especially in the metering area? Is it worth upgrading from a 6i to a 7i?
Thanks for the feedback
Neil
I had a friend with a 3D printer make the gadget. He also has a Canon and could not get it to fit, Roger said it was to thick. I was able to mount my 50/1.8 OK but it was very, very snug, my Tamron 16-300 would not fit at all.. It needs to be a bit thinner. It appears there are two versions, I could not get the one with longer "ears" to fit at all.
Nice idea tho.

I love all the Bald Eagle pixs................They are awesome creatures. My favorite poster is a head and shoulders pix of a Bald eagle looking straight ahead and the caption is "I AM SMILING"
The first one is a great photo. Well done!

Thanks all for the helpful responses, the 1.8 it will be. And as pointed out the new 1.8 has a metal mount.
Have a great day!
Neil
Trix,
Thanks, that is what I was looking for and being "new" to the game I did not know where to find it. that was GREAT info.
Regards
Neil
I have a two part question for the Canon folks concerning two lenses. There are two 50mm standard lenses I have been looking at, the 1.4 and the 1.8. At B&H the price is about $125. for the 1.8 and about $350. for the 1.4.
Considering the "Nifty 50" would be a back up lens and have occasional usage is the technical difference between the 1.4 and 1.8 significant, and part 2 is the big difference in price worth it.
I would appreciate feedback from more experienced folks, I certainly am relatively new to Canon since years ago in the film days I had Nikon gear (F3)
Many thanks
Neil
Thanks for al the great responses, I now have a better understanding of VC

Thanks for the NICE responses. However I have seen a few that were not "friendly" to others
Regards and thanks
Neil
I almost hesitated to ask a question since I have seen some of the smarmy responses some participants have received. I admit that I am more of a "lurker" and read posts that are of interest and look at photos that members have posted that I enjoy looking at (especially the Bald Eagle photos that Regis and others post).
I have a fledgling interest in macro photography that I have explored casually with my Canon T6i (sorry Nikon aficionados, but years ago in my film days I had Nikons, the last an F3).
OK my question, I noted in some older posts it was suggested with macro and photos using a tripod that vibration control should be turned off. Why is that? I would appreciate understanding to add to my personal knowledge base.
And please if you can not say something constructive or decent PLEASE do not respond. I have seen too many RTM or RTFM to last a lifetime.
Many thanks and to all a Happy HEALTHY New Year....................
Neil
I am new to macro and have a lot to learn. It would be helpful to see the tech specs (camera, lens, etc).
I am still fumbling my way. This is in no way a criticism of the photo (I like it) just my request for education on all the macro posts.
Many thanks, Neil
