The hummingbirds showed up three days ago. I was on the back step and a hummingbird flew in close to let me know they're back. I raced inside and made them some food. I couldn't put it out until it cooled. The next day I saw two hummers. And today I saw three and took these photos. This is their usual arrival time, but it's been a little cold here. I am always excited to see them. They are ruby-throated hummingbirds. The male (last photo) has the ruby-throat, the females do not. They are tinier than pictured.

Very nice shot. I spotted the first one here March 15. On March 17 right on schedule the first one came to the feeder. For the past few years even though the feedersxare out by March 13 they only start feeding on the 17th.

I got lucky today, as this Northern Rough-Winged Swallow took a break not far from me. He flew in close to me and darted around a few times, then rested again. this is the closest I've been to them before.

downloads are best.
Hope you enjoy

Last week was a good week for photographing small birds in flight. A male red-bellied woodpecker, a finch, some male and female cardinals, a blue jay and a catbird.

Really great captures Max, each one sharp, so well done. Thanks for sharing.

Pear Catus at Sandy Hook NRA. Quite a few around although not as many last year as the year before flowered which should start in a couple weeks. The last three are playing around with flash. Just holding it at different angles & distances. Maybe a flash output change but not likely & these were taken some time ago. Thanks for looking.

Nicely shot. I really like all of them

You've heard me mention the lake many times along with Kingsbury Wildlife Area.

These are views encompassing about 85% of Lower Fish Lake, where I have my cottage. Mud Lake and Upper Fish Lake are connected to LFL, and they're north of it 🩵💙🩵

About 5:00p.m. I invited this lovely lady to spend the night indoors, Im glad she accepted, the rains started shortly there after, first a nice light rain, the a bit later Mom really got her knickers in a wad, first wind driven rain, then so heavy I couldn't see 50ft and peonies do not fair well in heavy weather .
Below are two Images, One is a single shot and the other is a 19 image stack both with a D810 and a Nikkor 105 f2.8 set at f32 shutter speed don't matter the Exfi data says f36, While I'm not comfortable with this lens it does a great job.
I bought this lens to reduce the needed working distance of the 200mm f4 when doing my Mini Still life's, only time will tell if I get what I am looking for.

The afternoon before we left for Hilton Head Island, I took photos of the front garden because I knew that most of the tulips would be gone when we returned. I was correct.
